Starting Pay - $28.75 - $35.94 (Based on Experience)

Qualifications :

  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in a Business Management related field, preferred
  • Three years’ experience in a patient access environment with direct supervisory experience or similar experience, preferred
  • Excellent communication and teaching skills
  • BLS certification
  • Job Responsibilities :

  • Hires qualified personnel; trains and disciplines as required.
  • Conducts performance evaluations in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for regular (monthly desired) meetings with all patient access staff with the goal of maintaining consistent practices and expectations.
  • Ensures that staff are functioning in an efficient and effective manner, seeking improvements to methods and processes.
  • Establishes quality improvement goals for department staff, which may include accuracy of data gathered, timely phone response, excellent customer service skills, and volume information, etc.
  • Attends regular training to keep scheduling system skills up to date.
  • Provides ongoing training for patient services staff.
  • Provides feedback on accuracy and expectations on a regular basis.
  • Provides regular communication to staff on changes that may affect them (new clinicians, changes in practice, new services, etc.).
  • Maintains proficiency with computer systems needed to properly perform the requirements of the position.
  • Ensures confidentiality of both patient and employee information.
  • Maintains a cohesive and safe working environment.
  • Develops, updates, and implements policies and procedures.
  • Brings forth new ideas and suggestions.
  • Establishes appropriate goals and objectives for the department.
  • Assures departments are operating at optimum efficiency.
  • Assures the goals and objectives lead the department into an integrated future.
  • Monitors daily, weekly, monthly, etc. reports to assure appropriate integrity and achievement of goals and benchmarks (including phone reports, utilization reports, payment activity, demographic accuracy, third next, etc.).
  • Develops, conducts, and coordinates educational sessions in area of responsibility.
  • Constantly monitors department operations for efficiencies and economies of scale, including monitoring FTE staffing, phone calls per FTE, walk-in volume, and other duties.
  • Collaborates with clinical operation leadership for establishing appropriate long- and short-term goals for the department and reports progress on those goals on a monthly basis.
  • Consults with departments, clinicians, and management in the area of responsibility.
  • Responsible for cross-training department staff so everyone knows at least one additional area in addition to their primary location.
  • Establishes expectations of helping where needed based on the greatest demand.
  • Attends on-going educational seminar opportunities.
  • Coaches and mentors departmental team members, and maintains a positive morale.
  • Familiarity and knowledge of the appointment reminder system.
  • Completes continuing education to stay current on patient access industry standards
  • Other duties as assigned.
