Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant/ Sterilization Technician to join our dental clinic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing patients and the treatment area for dental procedures, assisting the dentist during treatments by passing instruments, taking X-rays, maintaining sterilization protocols, educating patients on oral hygiene practices, ensuring that all dental instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and maintained in accordance with health and safety regulations. This role is crucial in supporting our dental professionals by providing a safe and clean environment for patient care.
Duties
- Preparing dental instruments, trays, and materials needed for procedures, sterilizing equipment according to infection control guidelines.
- Passing instruments to the dentist during procedures, suctioning oral fluids, maintaining a clear field of operation.
- Pouring impressions, making temporary restorations, and preparing materials for lab submissions as needed.
- Perform sterilization of dental instruments and equipment using appropriate methods and protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sterilization area, ensuring compliance with infection control standards.
- Assist dental staff in preparing instruments for procedures, ensuring all necessary tools are available and properly sterilized.
- Utilize dental software systems such as Dentrix and Epic to manage inventory of sterilized instruments.
- Understand and apply dental terminology effectively while communicating with the clinical team.
- Operate X-Ray machines as needed, adhering to safety protocols.
- Familiarize with 3D scanners and other advanced dental technology to support clinical operations.
- Uphold HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality at all times.
Skills
- Strong understanding of general dentistry practices and procedures.
- Proficiency in using sterilization equipment and techniques.
- Familiarity with dental terminology, including knowledge of X-Ray processes.
- Experience with dental software systems such as Open Dental is preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain a sterile environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while assisting various clinical roles.
