POSITION PURPOSE:
To add service and value to the guests of the hotel by distributing and collecting towels and maintenance of the pool deck appearance. As a focal point of guest activities, the pool area and must exceed guest expectations with regard to service, organization, cleanliness, and value.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Train, monitor and direct Recreation Attendants. Ensure that all team members interact with the guests at the Pool. Maintain pool towel inventory, control distribution of towels, retail sales, and assist guests.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Pool Deck and Gulf Lawn.
- Assist guests and members in the basic use and understanding of exercise room equipment.
- Lead the children’s and adult’s recreation programs while maintaining a safe environment.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.
OTHER:
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, team members may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel including holidays and weekends.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- Possess the ability to follow directions when working with children’s programs.
- Possess an upbeat positive attitude to provide guests a positive atmosphere for their recreational needs.
- Able to read, write, hear, speak and understand the English language to communicate with management and staff, being persuasive, clear and to the point. Written communication skills to be concise, well organized, complete, clear and understandable in order to formulate complex reports and communicate with the public, staff, corporate offices, and the general manager.
- Possess basic knowledge of mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) to make change, calculate total costs, etc.
- Able to move throughout premise and visually inspect conditions requiring bending, stooping and reaching arms overhead.
- Able to remain calm in emergency situations and to effectively work with the internal and external guests, some of whom require patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, and provide positive and proactive solutions.
- Able to travel to various sites on and off the hotel property, while maintaining contact with the hotel, to perform essential job duties.
- Able to remain stationary (sitting or standing) and concentrate on tasks for long periods of time often in a high volume high-pressure area.
- Able to use finger/hand movements for extended periods of time. Finger and hand dexterity to manipulate switches, writing instruments, a computer keyboard, etc.
- Able to grasp and lift up to 75 lbs., waist high.
- Able to push or pull a wheeled cart weighing up to 250 lbs.
- Able to climb stairs.
- Able to work in conditions that may often be extremely hot, wet, and noisy.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Education:
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
- Previous leadership experience necessary. Previous fitness and recreation experience preferred.
- Hotel experience preferred. Experience with children's programming preferred.
Licenses or certificates:
- Ability to obtain any government required licenses or certificate.
- CPR Certification and/or First Aid Training preferred
