Employment Details
Role Title: Franz Anderson Tiny Home Village Site Support Assistant (“Site Support”, “SSA”)
Pay: $22 - $24 per hour.
Benefits: Eligible for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance following 30 days of employment; eligible for protected sick leave, OlyMAP vacation time, and holiday pay as applicable.
Hours: Full-time 40 hours per week; Friday-Tuesday, 5:00pm-1:30am. Occasional overtime and some shift flexibility to be expected. Some mandatory meetings, trainings, or events may require attendance outside of regular working hours.
Location: This position will require working primarily out of the Franz Anderson Tiny Home village in Olympia, WA, in addition to limited local travel and working out of other professional/community locations in the area, such as public venues, parks, schools, places of business, other provider locations, government buildings etc. While this position will require office-based/desk and indoor work, this position will also require working outdoors daily and for the majority of each shift. Working outdoors may expose workers to cold or inclement weather/the elements.
Physical Demands: More information regarding the specific requirements of this role are listed below, summarily, this job demands standing or walking for up to the full length of a shift (with regular breaks), regularly lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects up to 25 lbs., and crouching or kneeling in the pursuit of job duties (such as cleaning).

About Us
OlyMAP is an Olympia-based nonprofit whose mission is to support equitable access to safe, just, and warm places to call home for people experiencing unsheltered homelessness in Thurston County.
Project Summary
The WA State Rights of Way (RoW) Safety Initiative is a state-funded program aimed at assisting individuals living unsheltered or in camp communities on I-5 RoWs in connecting to shelter, housing and other resources/services. One of the primary goals of the program is to assist individuals living in these areas in transitioning to temporary and/or transitional shelter and housing. One of the shelter/housing options currently funded through the WA State RoW Safety Initiative and available for houseless individuals living on state RoWs is the Franz Anderson Tiny Home Village (FATHV). The FATHV, a 50-unit village for houseless single adults and couples without children, is operated by OlyMAP and has shared bathroom/shower/laundry/kitchen facilities on-site.
The village is staffed and operated 24/7 and is expected to be operational for at least 3 years, with the goal of transitioning all individuals living in the tiny home village to appropriate housing options, including permanent supportive housing that will be built nearby over the next few years. On-site services include but are not limited to: site support/management, supported self-governance services, case management, harm reduction services, resource/service connection.
Role Description
Reasonable Expectations

Role Summary
All individuals working with or for OlyMAP should be aware of, and comfortable with, the needs of working in a social work setting. This includes, but is not limited to, interacting with, providing care for, and upholding boundaries with participants, visitors, stakeholders, and other individuals in the communities we serve, some of whom may not exhibit traditional social patterns of behavior or formalities.
FATHV Site Support Assistants (SSAs) are responsible for overseeing the basic day-to-day operations, hygiene, security, and governance of the community when on site. As needed, and with collaboration from other members of the FATHV team, they act as a point of contact for residents, neighbors, and partners, with a focus on maintaining community safety, health, and well-being. SSAs also assist in ensuring the safety and stability of the surrounding neighborhood by working with OlyMAP team members, residents, and stake holders to prevent and address any impacts related to the community. Working as a team, SSAs facilitate resident access to essential supplies and services, support self-governance processes, and assist with de-escalation and crisis situations.
During each shift, SSAs can expect to be regularly responsible for hands-on cleaning, in-the-moment de-escalation, resident communications, navigating crisis response, upholding site requirements, and maintaining all relevant program documentation. Consistent, timely attendance is an unequivocal requirement of this role as staffing minimums are necessary to uphold basic site safety and operational needs. SSAs are supervised by the FATHV Leadership Team and are expected to collaborate with other OlyMAP staff to ensure smooth operations and community stability.
All job responsibilities and duties of the FATHV Site Support Assistant must be carried out in accordance with OlyMAP policy and procedures, mission, values, and philosophies, and in accordance with all contractual obligations. In the instance that OlyMAP policy or procedure does not cover a necessary job duty, all OlyMAP employees are expected to center OlyMAP values and comport themselves responsibly, ethically, and using good judgement.
Franz Anderson Site Support Assistant Core Responsibilities
- Facilitate & Coordinate Daily Operations: Maintain “on the ground” day-to-day community operations, security and governance in alignment with FATHV policies, procedures, community agreements and contractual obligations, in addition to OlyMAP’s mission and values and Best Practices relevant to homeless services, including, but not limited to, communicating regularly with residents, working in collaboration with residents, OlyMAP staff, and stakeholders to ensure smooth daily operations, coordinating access to, and the distribution of, on-site meals and food service, assisting residents with daily tasks such as handing out harm-reduction supplies, the provision of mail, or laundry room access, utilizing and maintaining all required documentation such as communication logs, walkthrough checklists, case files, and incident reports, and all other duties as assigned.
- Maintain Site Safety & Hygiene: Complete site support relevant tasks to assist in and uphold all requirements of the FATHV facility needs, including, but not limited to, performing regular janitorial tasks such as cleaning and supplying bathrooms and community spaces, creating and presenting notices of violations to residents who’s spaces and tiny homes are not in alignment with cleanliness and fire marshal requirements, assisting in cleaning and/or moving resident belongings to ensure compliance, and participating in move-out cleans and tiny home turns.
- Uphold Site Security: Participate in the coordination and administration of site security requirements including, but not limited to, monitoring the entrances and exits to ensure proper access and the maintenance of visitor requirements (such as signing in and out, agreement to and enactment of community agreements, and visitor hour enforcement), completing perimeter checks and walkthroughs to ensure standards compliance, completing welfare or safety checks as needed and appropriate, monitoring and reviewing site camera footage when required, and working in collaboration with other OlyMAP team members, residents, and/or stakeholders to address security needs that arise.
- Perform OlyMAP Outreach Services: Build relationships and rapport with residents and OlyMAP participants within policy and procedure, and centering best practices, including, but not limited to, making connections with resident to assess service needs, assisting in connecting residents to care navigation or directly to resources when appropriate, providing residents with timely and accurate information related to community services, events, and other information relevant to supporting their health, safety, and well-being, assisting residents in the process of requesting and receiving reasonable modifications,
- Problem Solving and Concern Resolution: Utilizing de-escalation skills, a trauma-informed approach, and other best practices, work with participants, residents, and visitors to diffuse or resolve escalated situations, assist in individual crisis response, interpersonal conflicts, and other emergencies that may arise on site. SSAs are not emergency responders but should be able to handle in-the-moment de-escalation with appropriate intervention, rapport building, referral to services, and general conflict mediation.
- Uphold General Workplace Expectations: Participate in all requirements of the workplace per OlyMAP policy and procedure, including, but not limited to, completing all training, documentation, and tasks assigned, attend and participate in all required meetings, work professionally and collaboratively with all OlyMAP team members, participants and stakeholders, be willing to support other OlyMAP programs as needed, and be at work, ready to work at scheduled times. Consistent, timely attendance is an integral function of this role as staffing minimums are required for site safety and operation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to support trauma-informed, harm-reductive, culturally humble, and compassionate care for people experiencing homelessness.
- Comfortable working with individuals experiencing varying social, behavioral, or mental health concerns and in the non-traditional and unstructured environment of a tiny home village.
- Capable of working both independently and as part of a team, being open to feedback, continued growth, and seeking education as needed.
- Humble and unpretentious approach to performing occasionally intensive or dirty manual labor tasks such as cleaning bathrooms or hauling garbage.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain and assert personal and professional boundaries.
- Capable of responding effectively to crises, facilitate de-escalation, and assist in emergent programmatic or interpersonal problem-solving.
- Strong commitment to social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Understanding, or willingness to learn, how to uphold OlyMAP’s mission and values, what it means to provide low-barrier services, and how to administer evidence-based practices like motivational interviewing, harm reduction, housing first, and trauma-informed care.
Desired (not required) Qualifications
- Current, valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Experience or education in social work, homeless services, behavioral health or another relevant field.
- Lived experience with homelessness, housing insecurity, substance use, behavioral health challenges or other lived experiences relevant to program/role.
- Understanding and knowledge of social services and homeless resources in Thurston County
