Program Specialist 2 - CorrectionsSalary: $42,444 - $56,676Classification: Program Specialist 2Reports to: Associate VP of InstructionPriority consideration to those who apply by February 4th, 2025.The Olympic College Corrections Education program serves incarcerated individuals within the Women’s Prison Division at the Washington State Department of Corrections. This includes two unique prison facilities: the Washington Corrections Center for Women (WCCW), located in Gig Harbor with a population of approximately 650 individuals at minimum, medium, and close custody levels; and the Mission Creek Corrections Center for Women (MCCCW), located in Belfair with a population of approximately 150 individuals in minimum custody.Olympic College and its employees working in a correctional education program are required to follow all Department of Corrections (DOC) Policies, IT, and other Security requirements, follow DOC Operational Memorandums, and comply with the Superintendent’s directions. Under general supervision, the Program Specialists perform a variety of complex clerical projects and tasks such as enrolling students in ctcLink, inputting data in OMNI, tracking student progress, assisting students, running enrollment reports, supporting staff and faculty with clerical tasks, assisting with outreach to boost enrollment, and answering questions from students, faculty members, and other staff.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Helping students with accessing their educational tools and resources (this excludes IT issues).Answering questions about OC programs.Referring students to the appropriate person or office for advising, complaints, etc.Working to find answers that are not immediately available, and relaying the response back to the questionerWorking from classroom space when students need access to equipment and/or materials outside of classroom time.Scheduling and proctoring GED tests and placement tests, disseminating results to students and facultyWorking in the OMNI system updates students recordsWorking in ctcLink, to assist with registration, enrollment, and hiring paperwork.Setting up/staffing tables with OC information at local eventsAssisting with the designing and ordering of OC materialsKeeping inventory of hand-out materials and re-ordering stock as neededOrdering needed supplies such as business cardsAssisting with letter writing, report writing, and other clerical tasksAssists with data entry into both ctcLink and OMNISets meetings Uses a checklist to ensure consistent onboarding of new staff and faculty.Assists with acquiring items that a new hire needs such as OC email, computer, desk or office suppliesTakes the lead on ensuring staff and faculty get access to the proper systems – works with the Associate Dean and Program Manager on what types of access are needed.

Terms of EmploymentThis is a full-time classified position scheduled to work 40 hours a week, with a salary range of $42,444 - $56,676. All classified positions will start their salary at Step A when you have completed six months of probation, you will receive a 5 percent pay increase. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Washington Public Employees Associate (WPEA) Union.
