Responsibilities


Summary:

Perform warehouse storeroom duties under direction of stores Crew Leader. Safely support warehouse functions such as forklift operations, inventory, and customer service for internal and external customers. Ability to perform proficiently in Asset Suite, Outlook, and other computer programs related to warehouse duties.

Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

1. Support warehouse/stores work on a daily basis by performing various activities related to the warehouse as directed.

  • Assist in maintaining all store facilities in an orderly condition. Assist in maintaining all store facilities in an orderly condition.
  • Become familiar with stores materials and locations at the assigned center.
  • Load and unload materials in their respective storerooms.
  • Operates various equipment, forklift etc.
  • Update inventory records on computer as directed.
  • Perform inventory counts as directed.

General Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

Safety: Promotes and adheres with the District's Safety Manual. Performs all work in the safest manner and stops work if safety related issues exist to people, equipment and plant/department. Report all safety concerns to appropriate leadership.

Compliance: Understands, maintains knowledge and complies with all OPPD policies, procedures, and applicable Federal and State laws and regulations.

Communication: Promptly review and apply Corporate, Business Unit, departmental and team specific communications. Deliver and reinforce effective communications as required by role.

Continuous Improvement: Identify improvement opportunities related to work practices, procedures, documentation, tools or equipment. Applies improved work methods in the execution of work.

Fiscal Accountability: Adheres to all budget and expense policies and procedures. Effectively cares for all corporate: property, tools and equipment in order to minimize cost.

Cross Functional Working Relationships (CFWR): Work collaboratively with peers and other work groups, exhibit professional behavior, and promote positive working relationships.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Must have education and/or training in applied mathematics and the ability to learn the methods and practices used in the work group.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical capability test.
  • Must have the ability to learn and operate material handling equipment and computer software used in the warehouse environment.
  • Must have the ability to pass and maintain forklift certification within six months of hire.

Desired:

  • One (1) year experience in a warehouse or storeroom environment.
  • One (1) year forklift experience.
  • Prior heavy equipment operating experience (crane, front end loader, skid loader, etc.).

Time Demands:

  • This position is considered an "essential position" meaning when business necessity and continuity needs are emergent, this position will be required to report to work and may be required to work hours beyond an employee's normal shift.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance in alignment with Departmental policy.
  • Must be available for overtime work and call-outs as required to ensure continuance of efficient operation.
  • Must maintain 24-hour availability for technical and professional assistance, emergency response, and directing remedial action in response to such emergencies, as well as maintain availability as required for on call duty.

Environment:

Office: Work will be performed in a modern office environment amid normal conditions of dust, odors, fumes, and noises.

Laydown Yards/Delivery Sites: Work will be performed outside in a wide variety of weather conditions (snow, rain, heat, cold, wind, etc.), terrain, and other natural environmental hazards as well as pollen and other airborne allergens. Will work in construction areas that present many physical hazards.

Warehouses: Work will be performed inside with exposure to industrial building conditions and will be exposed to extreme temperatures, odors, and exposure to sounds. Noise levels may require shouting in order to be heard. Will work around asbestos and lead. Work will be performed in high traffic environments. Will work at heights.

Physical Demands:

Must have the ability to safely work under stressful situations, operate a computer and other office equipment, operate material handling equipment, move about the Company, and interact with all levels of the Company. Requirements of the position: standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, and carrying at least 20 pounds, performing strenuous work in various weather conditions, sitting at a desk, speaking, hearing, ability to see information in print and/or electronic format, keyboarding, and handling objects with hands. Occasional requirements of the position: occasionally lifting at least 75 pounds; lifting 50 pounds from floor to waist height; lifting 25 pounds from waist height to 72 inches above floor; and push/pull with 50 pounds of force. Ability to climb a ladder and stairs. Ability to climb a step stool and may be required to carry boxes to place on shelves.
