Reporting to the Major Gift Officer, the Annual Giving Manager will work closely with internal teams and external partners to engage donors in supporting the Omaha Zoo Foundation’s annual fund and building strategy that creates long-term sustainability and growth.
This fundraising position implements strategic direction (such as ongoing improvements, analysis, support and stewardship to donors) as well as day-to-day facilitation (such as prompt donor recognition, ongoing expiration communications, and resolution of donor inquiries). It plays an integral role in advancing the mission by managing a portfolio of annual donors and prospects while focusing on relationship building and renewing ongoing support.
Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions (include but not limited to):
- Manage portfolio of patron membership donors representing over $2.2M in revenue
- Coordinate with Major Gift Officer to identify current annual donors and pass holders who can make major gifts; implement appropriate strategies
- Strategize improvements to annual giving programs to maximize annual revenue potential
- Manage mail solicitations including creating audience criteria, pulling mailing lists, writing, coordinating with design/mailing agencies, and putting together materials
- Provide exceptional donor relations to patron members including timely recognition and resolution of donor inquiries
- Implement stewardship strategies to maintain donor satisfaction and build meaningful relationships
- Utilize third party resources such as WordFly, Bonfire, and Realty Resource to solicit new donors and provide giving opportunities
- Manage Zoo Adopt program
- Craft creative campaigns to engage new donors in the community and encourage seasonal giving
- Provide historical analysis and projections for revenue optimization
- Create and implement procedures utilizing data driven analysis through Salesforce and Tableau for donor retention, moves management, win-back, and downgrades to household
- Participate in patron stewardship activities including performing tours and hosting special events per the stewardship matrix
- Coordinate with departments across the organization to align communication needs and mission goals
- Assist the Senior Vice President of Development with community-wide fundraising campaigns
- Provide monthly reporting on the status of annual giving revenues
- Execute communications activities to donor portfolio
- Communicate with donors to resolve inquiries and express gratitude
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Major Gift Officer
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to interact with donors at all levels
- Comfort in soliciting donations in person, online, and via mail
- Strong interest in trends and forecasting
- Experience in word processing, spreadsheets, data entry, database management.
- Ability to create strategy for multiple revenue-generating programs
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversee 1 full-time employee (Annual Giving Coordinator)
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years’ experience in fundraising or donor relations activities
- Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills are essential.

- Must be able to work some evenings and weekends to support Foundation and Zoo special events.
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, maneuver around buildings, stand, kneel, stoop, crouch, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Employee must be able to easily walk up and down stairs, bend down, reach, push and pull, lift up to 25 pounds and have a valid driver’s license
- Must have strong interpersonal communication skills, judgment, and discretion with confidential information.
- Must be able to multi-task, work in a fast-paced office and work with multiple priorities and deadlines with accuracy.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in business, management, nonprofit, or a related field is preferred.
