What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, DC Shipping position at Omaha Steaks?
Essential Job Duties Include But Are Not Limited To
- Monitors proper loading of outbound trailers, assigns seal number, verifies correct trailer placement and destination codes. Ensures safe loading compliance is followed Routinely inspects trailers for possible product damage. Communicates directives to coordinator and employees as needed. Maintains company safety policies are being met and addresses safety issues immediately to personnel.
- Responsible for the dock assignment and sortation setup of trailers into the computer. Inputs all information into the DC Load/ Trailer Setup Menu in the AS400 system. Determines and monitors loading KPIs and coaches employees to ensure efficiency.
- Assist with product integrity compliance of frozen items being used within the O/A dept. Assist with staffing and procedures within the QC area.
- Responsible for visually inspecting shipping containers for holes, cleanliness, improper wrap and other potential defects that may result in customer receipt of damaged goods.
- Communicates equipment needs and completion times with carriers daily. Assigns carriers based on transportation RFP as needed. Works within TMS to determine best practice.
- Completes UPS labels, SPC shipments and upgrades daily as needed. Determines dry ice/packaging for WorldShip shipments as needed.
- Assists in interviewing, performance appraisals and tracking. Performs other duties as assigned.
- Coordinates staging of trailers with drivers to ensuring needed equipment is in place to meet daily requirements.
- Completes BOLs daily ensuring accuracy timeliness.
- Schedules employees and reviews daily work requirements making necessary adjustments.
- Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality.
- 2-year college degree or equivalent in Warehouse, Distribution or Fulfillment
- 3 years of supervisor experience in Shipping & Receiving
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
- Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations
- Excellent communication and staff management skills
