What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Technician position at Omaha Tribe of Nebraska?
SUMMARY: The primary purpose of the Information Technology Technician is to assist Omaha tribal members to ensure the survival and vitality of the Umoⁿhoⁿ language and culture. Determined projects will strive to achieve community goals through specific, measurable outcomes. In an effort to perpetuate language and culture preservation projects for tribal members, the Family Resource Center will identify opportunities for the replication or modification of such projects for use by tribal members, and include a plan for the preservation of the products of the Umoⁿhoⁿ Language & Culture Preservation Department for the benefit of future generations of the Omaha Tribe and other interested persons. The incumbent will work in various functional areas within the Family Resource Center, therefore specific duties may vary according to assignments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Establish and support the Program to bring tribal members together to facilitate and encourage the transfer of Umoⁿhoⁿ language skills from one generation to another.
- Provide implementation, maintenance/support, or optimization of Project technology components or systems.
Maintain a website to disseminate information and materials to be used for the teaching and enhancement of Umoⁿhoⁿ language.
- Work with tribal members to produce or participate in social media, television, or radio presentations to be broadcast in Umoⁿhoⁿ language.
- Assist in engineering oral testimonies from Elders through recording sessions designed to preserve Umoⁿhoⁿ language.
- Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues related to Windows 10 OS, mobile devices, and network related issues.
- Develop Umoⁿhoⁿ cultural and language instruction and training tools.
- Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues related to Windows 10 OS, mobile devices, and network related issues.
- Assist the Director in working with tribal programs, local agencies and organizations to embed Umoⁿhoⁿ language, traditions, and values into services and activities.
- Assist in developing instructional materials for language restoration online content.
- Work in partnership with public schools and the community college to develop Umoⁿhoⁿ language social media programs.
Provide strong customer service skills to ensure positive customer experience through courteous resolution of issues and full explanation and demonstration of how to perform an action.
- Will walk staff through installing application and computer peripherals.
- Conduct remote troubleshooting, test alternative pathways until you resolve an issue.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED
- Proven work experience as a Desktop Support Engineer and hands-on experience with Windows/linux/Mac OS environments.
- Experience as a Desktop Support Engineer with strong Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and/or REGISTRATIONS:.
- Must have a valid Nebraska Driver's License and be insurable by Tribal insurance
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and/or ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated ability to regularly engage with all stakeholders and to build consensus.
- Demonstrated ability to develop resources or work closely with grant writers.
- Demonstrate leadership ability to work independently with organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of office automation products and like printers and scanners.
- Knowledge of network security practices and equipment and anti-virus programs.
- Ability to perform remote troubleshooting and provide clear instructions.
