What are the responsibilities and job description for the Umonhon Youth Runaway & Homeless Program - Youth Worker position at Omaha Tribe of Nebraska?
SUMMARY: The UYRHP Youth Worker provides housing and support services to young people who are exiting homelessness. Provides individualized and specialized support to participants focusing on daily needs, supporting counseling services as appropriate and connecting youth with services such as weekly Life Skills Training/Instruction lessons, obtaining employment, financial literacy, meeting program expectations, maintaining housing, and increasing academic achievement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following.
- Maintain all files and records relating to the Umonhon Youth Runaway & Homeless Program.
- Ensure confidentiality to protect the rights of participants and staff and maintains good communication between all youth, Family Resource Center, schools, and others involved in the project.
- Provides intake, referral services, and discharge of all youth participants.
- Responsible for collecting data and reporting data and information on the grantor's data collection system.
- Provide coordination of case management services to youth in the UYRHP and additional youth as needed.
- Conduct assessments with youth to determine goals, barriers, resource needs and other factors related to case planning, acting as a broker for services and referring them to community resources when necessary.
- Facilitate regular group activities for UYRHP program participants.
- Assist youth in living independently.
- Act as a liaison with other service providers.
- Keep updated records of all interactions with youth and any other contacts made on their behalf.
- Provide on-going monitoring and reporting of participant's progress.
- Provide on-going Life Skills Training/Instruction in one-on-one settings.
- Provides residential care supervision of youth in the shelter.
- Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Youth development services required.
- Working with youth who have faced significant barriers and/or homelessness.
- Completing assessments.
- Creating goal/treatment plans.
- Working in a temporary shelter program or independent living skills program.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and/or REGISTRATIONS:
- Must have a valid driver's license and be eligible for Tribal insurance.
- Must complete any mandatory training.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Understanding of the OTN community and its unique challenges.
- Knowledge of child welfare systems, public and federal assistance programs, and other community resources.
- Must have a working understanding of Omaha culture, tribal systems, and tribal referral processes.
