POSITION DESCRIPTION
Fire Protection Engineer providing fire protection programmatic implementation support at various NNSS and NLV facilities. Deliverables include fire protection assessments, fire hazards analysis, fire risk assessments, preparing equivalencies & exemptions, design reviews, procedure reviews, life safety code analysis, system walk-downs, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- BS/MS in Fire Protection Engineering.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must have experience with DOE facilities and fire protection in nuclear facilities.
- Must have good analytical capability to resolve complex fire protection issues with code interpretation, applicability, and implementation.
- Must have experience with Notifier voice fire alarm and detection, hybrid fire extinguishing systems, fire hazards analysis preparation per DOE-STD-1066, and experience in fire protection with underground facilities.
- Must have a working knowledge of Federal (including Department of Energy Orders), State, and Local codes and standards applicable to fire protection design.
- Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
- Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening.

LOCATION
Local candidates preferred, but open to remote resource with travel as needed.
CONTRACT DURATION
Period of Performance - 6 months
