Product Development Engineering Intern

Position Overview
OMG’s Roofing New Product Development team is focused on growing the RhinoBond and Adhesive markets. Working with NPDI Engineers and test technicians, the intern will help design, develop and test a productivity tool that would be vital to the RhinoBond tool system. This intern will work with the NPDI team to learn the stage gate process, voice of customer, design techniques, and testing procedures throughout the summer.

Position Responsibilities
- Promote Safety as the Number One priority of all OMG employees.
- Use 3D modelling software and available 3D printers to design and develop prototypes
- Develop CTC/Q’s and use available equipment to test the parameters of the prototype
- Assist in daily activities related to engineering and test technicians
- Interact with other Roofing and FM NPDI engineers to understand processes and techniques used.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Basic Requirements
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- Proficient in SolidWorks, Microsoft Office Applications
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, focus and influence.
- Strong digital copywriting, design, content marketing and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to use creativity to identify new, compelling ways to reach and digitally communicate to customers.
- Demonstrated ability to work positively/effectively across an organization and with customers/external support resources.
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects and tools, reach with hands and arms, regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work and contribute as part of a team.
- Positive “can do” attitude!
- Ability to work in high noise areas and wear appropriate hearing protection devices.
- Manual material handling involving the need to grip, squeeze, and pinch.
- Ability to use hard tined rake to move/break apart parts frequently.
- The position requires the ability to regularly stand.
- The position requires good close vision and depth perception skills.
- Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; and regularly lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds.
