Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting our team in providing high-quality eye care. This position requires a blend of technical skills, patient interaction, and knowledge of ophthalmic procedures. The Ophthalmic Technician will work closely with patients, ensuring their comfort and understanding throughout their visit.

Duties

-Collaborate with physician(s) to provide optimal patient care.
- Perform preliminary eye examinations, including visual acuity tests and tonometry.
- Assist in the administration of diagnostic tests and procedures.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on pre-operative and post-operative care instructions.
- Performs autorefraction and lensometry tests as needed on patients in accordance with established guidelines.
- Clean and sterilize equipment and maintain autoclave in accordance with established guidelines and procedures.
- Manage inventory of medical supplies and maintain cleanliness in the examination area.

Requirements
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to the eye is essential.
- Familiarity with medical coding practices is preferred.
- Experience in retail sales or optical settings is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively with pediatric patients is a plus.
- Understanding of medical records management and HIPAA compliance is required.
- Strong communication skills to interact with patients and healthcare professionals effectively.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions during examinations.
- Willingness to learn new systems and technologies related to ophthalmic procedures.
