Essential Functions:
Spring-Fall
- Coordinate pre-season trail maintenance by mowing and clearing trails.
- Work with Supervisor to determine drainage and erosion issues on the trails.
- Keep crew on track and motivated.
- Ensure crews are completing pre-season work needs including hydrant and pipe maintenance, hose inspection and maintenance, and equipment inventory.
- Inspect all value stations and lines prior to season start-up.
- Receive direction from Mountain Manager regarding any additional summer projects.
- Receive direction from Snowmaking Supervisor regarding when to start making snow.
- Responsible for the ensuring crew is producing excellent snow quality and efficient output.
- Coordinate with other crew leaders and Snowmaking Supervisor regarding shift progress and future moves.
- Monitor crew-members and report any issues to Supervisor.
- Maintain appropriate equipment and report any needs to Supervisor.
- Ensure safe operation of equipment through training and supervision.
- All Computer Systems, Snow Removal Equipment, All Facility Utility Systems, PA System, Telephone system, 2-Way Radios, etc.
- Exterior of Bretton Woods Ski Areawith exposure to extreme weather conditions.
- Consistently traveling on the mountain with high altitude and terrain.
- Must be able to work outside in extreme winter conditions on a 24-hour basis.
- Ability to walk up and down steep mountain terrain.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Ability to safely maneuver on snow and ice.
- Must be able to safely operate brush and chain saws, snowmobiles, and 4-wheelers.
- Must be able to effectively make decisions regarding changing weather conditions and the effect on snow quality without supervision.
- Must be able to work a flexible scheduling including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Candidate must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Sets a standard by being to work on time and when scheduled.
- Provides constructive feedback to crew-members.
- Works safety around all equipment including high-pressure air and water.
- Safely operates snowmobiles and avoids open terrain when at all possible.
- Reports any unsafe instances to a Manager.
- Maintains a professional attitude and appearance.
- Constantly remembers that they are an essential part of the mountain operation and respects other departments.
- Demonstrates initiative and versatility.
- Has a strong knowledge of the job and can effectively train others.
- Mechanical experience and hydraulic knowledge are required.
- Must be available to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
