Plant Manager Job Description
The Plant Manager has broad overall responsibility for the business. The Plant Manager will oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. They develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality, and productivity.
The Plant Manager is responsible for strategy, structure, budgets, people, financial outcomes, and scorecard metrics. Plant Managers need to be familiar with all areas of the business and can coordinate processes and operations across the organization. A Plant manager usually must speak the languages of finance and accounting, operations, sales, marketing, human resources, research and development, and engineering.
Plant Manager Duties & Responsibilities
The Plant Manager's duties and responsibilities are:
- Plan, organize, direct, and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations.
- Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards.
- Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus
- Share a trusting relationship with the workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff
- Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics, and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
- Engage with corporate officers in broader organizational strategic planning.
- Stay up to date with the latest production management best practices and concepts

Plant Manager Job Requirements
- The minimum education required for this position is a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or Production Management. Seven to ten years of experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in Flexographic Printing or other types of print manufacturing.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills, supervisory experience, PC, and analytical skills are a must; knowledge of the pressure-sensitive label converting industry as well as pricing and marketing skills are required.
- The minimum related language skills required for this position is the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, and numerical data. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, customers, sales representatives, and employees.
- This position requires an ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations to printing jobs.
Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions
- This position requires the incumbent to use color vision, hearing, sitting for prolonged periods, speaking and articulating, and lifting less than 25 pounds on a constant basis, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
- This position requires the incumbent to carry, hear, stand, walk, grasp, reach, and at times travel.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be exposed to humid conditions, fumes, toxic chemicals, and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Salary : $90,000 - $130,000
