This role involves fabricating and maintaining die components, interpreting blueprints, performing complex machining tasks (such as milling, engraving, and threading), and using precision tools like calipers and micrometers. Requirements
We are searching for a candidate with:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of accredited machinist training program and 5 years relevant experience OR 10 years relevant experience
- Must have previous experience and/or ability to fabricate, repair, replace or properly install:
- Shafts, bushings, sprockets, chains and power transmission components
- Guarding and related safety devices
- Experience with both manual and CNC machining equipment
- Must have ability to read machine blueprints and assembly drawings
- Must have, at minimum, a basic Machinist’s tool set, including calipers and micrometers.
- Must be able to work well with others and provide project leadership on build and repair projects
- Previous machine building experience a plus
- Must be willing to work overtime when needed, including occasional weekends
Duties and Responsibilities
A typical day may include:
- Capable of interpreting and understanding specifications, including blueprints, sketches, models, or written descriptions, to determine required materials and appropriate machinery for fabricating parts or die components.
- Skilled in toolmaking using various shop equipment (milling, lathe, precision grinding, polishing, and fitting) and able to produce parts accurately according to specifications.
- Advanced machining skills, including milling, engraving, thread turning, hole or pocket boring, and grinding of flats, shoulders, or slots, with an emphasis on precision and efficiency.
- Proficient in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and dial indicators.
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a small team.
- Knowledgeable about machining processes and the properties of various metals.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Conducts routine inspections, evaluations, and preventative maintenance of die sets, performing additional repairs as necessary.
- Provides support to production setup personnel by troubleshooting tooling, press machines, and roll formers.
- Rebuilds and maintains primary roll-forming, forming, and ancillary equipment across the facility.
- Skilled in reverse engineering and manufacturing die components within set timeframes.
