What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at Omro Building Center?
We are continuing to grow as a company and we are looking for people who want to join our team for the long-term. Advancement opportunities are possible! The ability to perform physical labor is required. Some examples are putting away lumber and pulling orders.
Detailed job description below:
*Omro Building Center is looking for a reliable person to pick orders for the building industry. Forklift driving, sorting/stacking inventory and orders, and delivering are a mixture of the required tasks. Each day is something different. Some days are fast-paced while other days allow for experiential learning and laid-back tasks.
*If you enjoy working outside, being active, learning new things, and trying new things... this position might be a great fit.
*This position allows you to learn and experience a lot within the construction industry while building connections with others.
*If an applicant has no skills and experience within the construction industry, as an employee he/she must be willing to learn and accept both guidance and constructive criticism. Forklift experience and warehouse experience are a plus, but not required to be successful in the position and at the company. Knowledge of the building industry is helpful, but it is not required.
Although this is primarily a yard position, a good driving record is required. Truck and trailer driving experience (including backing up) is a plus. A CDL is NOT required. Applicant MUST have AT LEAST three years of acceptable/satisfactory driving record.
*Hours and days of work are flexible based on the needs and demands of employees, but consistency is important to OBC. Part-time is fine as well. This position could potentially work as a second job. No weekends! Preference will be given to full-time applicants.
*Wages will depend on experience. Qualified and full-time applicants will be in a higher pay range. While this position is great for part-time, preferential pay depends on availability and full-time status. A raise schedule and performance evaluation/review timeline and schedule will be discussed and decided on when hired.
*The company will invest time, energy, and resources into training the right employee if there is a willingness to learn. Asking questions and making mistakes is how people learn! Management along with the employee will choose a performance plan with checkpoints to coincide with the raise schedule.
*Employees must be willing to try new tasks and be willing to step outside of their knowledge/expertise and comfort zone. However, no heights are ever required of employees. Even on shingle deliveries, employees will never be on customers’ roofs.
We look forward to meeting and working with you!
