OMT-Veyhl is looking to hire a Custom Assembler - 1st Shift. Join a team in manufacturing innovative, precision quality products for the manufacturing and work-space industry. Our 1st shift schedule is Monday thru Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM. Overtime, when necessary, is mandatory and will occur by extended workdays or Saturday work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assemble custom and standard products including assembly tables, machine bases, marker boards, carts, and other products.
- Build machinery.
- Pick up and drop off product from internal suppliers and occasionally external suppliers.
- Help build product for trade shows.
- Must be proficient with assembly tools including drills, drivers, and a variety of hand tools. This will also include drill presses and electric cranes/ lifting devices.
- Must be a self-starter with multiple machining disciplines & capable of delivering a product on a timely manner.
- Positioning, aligning and fitting for the formation of complete units using jigs, hand tools, and various machine tools.
- Assist in other areas of manufacturing as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma required
- Technical school a plus with mechanical emphasis preferred
- Must have 2 years’ experience in advanced assembly processes, including a variety of assembly methods.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have strong mechanical aptitude.
- Must have valid Michigan Driver’s License.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be dependable and reliable.
- Possess the ability to problem solve.
- Responsive and timely to inquiries and production needs.

- Ability to work both independently and as a team.
- Able to grasp new concepts quickly through blueprints, written, or verbal direction.
- Must be highly-motivated.

- Must have good working habits that include maintaining a clean and neat work area (attention to 5S).
- Must be able to take a project from start to finish.
- Must have experience in Milling, Grinding, De-burring and Finishing Operate the shop equipment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read and interpret documents.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and 3D drawings.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to communicate sensitive information to management and customers.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations in standardized situations.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Ability to be responsible and accountable for inventory of assigned tools.
