Job Summary:OPPA! is seeking a proactive and versatile individual to serve as the Janitor and Building Representative, ensuring the facility remains clean, functional, and welcoming. This role combines janitorial responsibilities with light maintenance and occasional on-site event support, playing a critical role in maintaining the high standards of OPPA!’s space.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Janitor Responsibilities:
- Daily Cleaning:
- Clean and sanitize common areas, restrooms, classrooms, and offices.
- Vacuum, sweep, mop, and dust regularly to ensure a clean and inviting environment.
- Empty and clean trash and recycling bins throughout the facility.
- Clean mirrors, windows, and glass doors for a polished appearance.
- Restocking Supplies:
- Monitor and restock paper towels, toilet paper, soap, and cleaning supplies.
- Seasonal Work:
- Shovel snow, de-ice walkways, and clear debris to ensure safe access to the building.
- Perform seasonal deep cleaning tasks as needed.
Maintenance/Building Responsibilities:
- Light Maintenance and Repairs:
- Replace lightbulbs, light switch covers, and air filters.
- Complete minor touch-ups, such as painting walls or fixing small damages.
- Repair loose fixtures, furniture, or other items as needed.
- Conduct basic troubleshooting of building systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing) and coordinate professional repairs when required.
- Facility Setup and Support:
- Move furniture, tables, and equipment for events or classroom needs.
- Assemble or disassemble furniture and fixtures as required.
- Ensure entrances and exits are clear and operational.
- Monitoring and Inspections:
- Conduct regular building walkthroughs to identify and address any maintenance or safety concerns.
- Check for and resolve potential hazards, such as tripping risks or leaks.
- Ensure all tools and supplies are properly stored and organized.
- Project Work:
- Assist with facility improvement projects, such as organizing storage areas or updating decor.
Building Representative Responsibilities:
- Serve as the on-site representative during select rentals or events, ensuring the facility operates smoothly and addressing any immediate needs.
- Provide basic troubleshooting support for building systems during events.
- Ensure the building is secure and locked after rentals or events.
Qualifications:
- Ability to perform light repairs, troubleshoot basic building systems, and handle small projects.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Flexible schedule, with availability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- A proactive, team-oriented attitude and willingness to adapt to the needs of a community-centered environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching, climbing ladders, and shoveling snow.
- Stand or walk for extended periods while performing duties.
Compensation and Schedule:Janitor and Building Representative is an hourly position with up to 28 hours per week. Starting Salary is $13-$14 per hour depending on experience. Schedule will be set weekly with the supervisor. Preferred hours are early morning during the week. Some evening/Saturday hours will be required.
