Job Overview:

On-Time Medical Group is seeking a compassionate and experienced Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing expert counseling and education in our DUI/DWI Education Program. This position will involve teaching individuals who have been charged with driving under the influence (DUI) or driving while intoxicated (DWI) in Maryland, helping them understand the consequences of their behavior, and assisting in their recovery journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach DUI/DWI Education Program:
  • Lead structured educational sessions for individuals who have been convicted of DUI/DWI offenses in Maryland.
  • Provide knowledge on the effects of alcohol and drugs on driving, legal consequences, and strategies for avoiding future offenses.
  • Ensure that all content is up-to-date and adheres to Maryland state requirements for DUI/DWI education programs.
  • Individual Counseling:
  • Offer one-on-one counseling sessions for participants to address individual substance use issues, triggers, and potential relapses.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans for individuals to promote behavioral change and long-term sobriety.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions, treatment plans, and progress.
  • Group Counseling and Support:
  • Facilitate group counseling sessions, providing a safe and supportive environment where participants can share experiences and learn from others.
  • Encourage group discussions around accountability, decision-making, and coping strategies.
  • Collaboration with Other Professionals:
  • Collaborate with the On-Time Medical Group team, including physicians, psychologists, and other counselors, to ensure comprehensive care and support for clients.
  • Refer clients to additional services as needed, such as detoxification programs, mental health support, or other community resources.
  • Documentation and Compliance:
  • Maintain thorough documentation of all sessions, treatment progress, and attendance in compliance with Maryland state regulations.
  • Ensure all required reports, assessments, and follow-ups are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Education and Prevention:
  • Educate clients about the risks of substance abuse and the long-term impact on their health, relationships, and driving ability.
  • Provide prevention strategies to reduce the risk of future DUI/DWI offenses.
  • Stay informed of current trends, research, and legislation related to substance use disorders and DUI/DWI cases.
  • Client Advocacy:
  • Act as an advocate for clients within the criminal justice system and help them navigate their legal and recovery processes.
  • Support clients in developing life skills to improve their overall well-being and reduce recidivism.

Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Must be a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) or Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) in the state of Maryland.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in drug and alcohol counseling, preferably with DUI/DWI education or similar programs.
  • Education: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of substance abuse treatment, recovery principles, and DUI/DWI laws in Maryland.
  • Skills:Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to facilitate educational sessions and group counseling.
  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to engage clients in their recovery process.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to maintain a professional and supportive demeanor in a variety of situations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of state-specific DUI/DWI laws and the legal system.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and individuals with co-occurring mental health disorders.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) a plus.

  • This position will be based at the On-Time Medical Group office in Maryland.

  • Flexibility in scheduling may be required to accommodate group sessions and individual counseling hours.
