What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Billing Specialist position at On With Life Career Center?
As a onsite Medical Billing Specialist at On With Life, you can be a part of something greater. This position is responsible for generating and submitting claims for our various programs in a timely manner and managing the accounts receivable. The goal is to generate clean claims for payments to allow persons served, families and clinicians more time to focus on treatment and recovery.
Hours for the Medical Billing Specialist are primarily between 8am and 4:30pm, Monday-Friday, approximately 40 per week. No holidays or weekends are required, but some earlier or later hours may periodically be needed.
We do annual raises based on budget capacity, and you also have the opportunity for a discretionary bonus at your anniversary. Starting wage of $20/hour for entry-level experience with a minimum of two years medical billing experience or a Medical Billing Certificate.

What does our Medical Billing Specialist do?
Under the direction of the Finance Manager and in collaboration with other On With Life departments, the Medical Billing Specialist supports the generation and submission of clean and timely claims. The goal is to generate clean claims for payments to allow persons served, families and clinicians more time to focus on treatment and recovery. Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist in billing and accounts receivable functions for various On With Life programs
- Post Payments
- Assist with admission diagnosis coding and insurance setup
- Follow up with claim denials in a timely manner in accordance with our Payer guidelines
- Submit claims through our clearinghouse
- Complete month-end close process for assigned programs by verifying deposits, correct billing amounts and receivable balances
- Oversee self-pay receivable accounts, run monthly statements, and turn accounts over to collections per organizational process
- Maintain and update the Electronic Health Record system as required to support the billing and accounts receivable processes
- Stay up to date on organization compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid)
