The Outpatient Referral Coordinator works 8a-4:30p Monday-Friday, approximately 40 hours per week. There are no regular evening, weekend, or holiday hours.
What does our Outpatient Referral Coordinator do?
Under the direction of the Director of Referrals and Admissions and in partnership with the Outpatient administrative team, this position is responsible for:
- Process new referrals; including but not limited to answering referral line, entering referrals into respective electronic health-record (EHR) systems and electronic data warehouse (EDW), and notifying pertinent parties of receipt of referral
Verifying insurance, obtain authorization and other pre-admission requirements
Maintain concurrent authorization throughout stay
Working with therapy team when needing updated information and or assist for appeals
An excellent candidate for our Outpatient Referral Coordinator position meets the following criteria:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR)
- Expertise in insurance terms, verify benefits and obtaining authorizations
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills for talking to persons served, families/caregivers, healthcare providers, and insurance companies
- Ability to multi-task and manage time well
- Ability to independently solve problems and think globally
