The Substitute Food Service/Cook will assist in the preparation and serving of meals for the school district. This is a substitute position, which means that the employee will be called upon to fill in for the regular Food Service/Cook when they are absent.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of meals, including measuring and mixing ingredients, cooking food, and serving meals
- Follow recipes and menus provided by the regular Food Service/Cook
- Ensure that food is cooked to the appropriate temperature and that it meets all health and safety standards
- Clean and sanitize kitchen and dining areas, including washing dishes, wiping counters, and sweeping floors
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering supplies and keeping track of food and equipment
- Communicate with other staff members to ensure that meals are served on time and that any special dietary needs are met
- Other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director or the District Office.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in food service or cooking preferred
- Ability to follow recipes and menus accurately
- Knowledge of health and safety standards for food preparation and service
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time
- Availability to work on short notice as a substitute.
