Description:
The Aerospace Material Planner is responsible for managing the planning, procurement, and inventory control of materials required for aerospace manufacturing and assembly processes. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that materials are available when needed to meet production schedules while maintaining cost efficiency and compliance with industry standards.
Material Planning and Procurement:- Develop and maintain material requirements plans based on production schedules, forecasts, and inventory levels.
- Coordinate with purchasing team to ensure timely delivery of materials and components.
- Analyze and forecast material needs to optimize inventory levels and minimize excess stock.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock is available for production.
- Implement inventory control procedures and systems to track material usage and turnover rates.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with engineering, production, purchasing, customer management, and quality assurance teams to align material planning with production requirements.
- Communicate with customer management team and value stream leaders any suppliers regarding order status, lead times, and any issues that may impact material availability.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to provide updates on material planning, inventory status, and summarize risks and opportunities.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in material planning, scheduling, and procurement to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Utilize data analysis and reporting tools to monitor performance metrics and inform decision-making.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Materials Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in materials planning, production scheduling, and inventory management, preferably in the aerospace or manufacturing industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in data analysis tools and inventory management software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of aerospace materials, manufacturing processes, and industry regulations is a plus.
- Knowledge of SAP is a plus
- APICS certification is a plus
