SUMMARY
As a Purchasing Associate for this leading manufacturing / importing company, you will be responsible for following up from initial concept, obtaining freight quotes, ordering and producing sample products and packaging, obtaining approvals, and making / confirming factories deliver according to shipping schedule which will be reported to upper management in the form of an exception report.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow up with receiving DC on open purchase orders.
- Contact suppliers for delivery status and update expediting reports.
- Update weekly all Metrics associated with materials control.
- Data entry information into MRP with revised delivery dates from suppliers.
- Make, track and close purchase orders.
- Assist Materials group with material & equipment expediting.
- Reviews inventory records or warehouse to determine if material on hand is sufficient.
- Work closely with IC in Distribution to keep a ‘real time” picture at all times of possible shortages / overages. Input data into forecasting module (Demand Solutions).
- Able to work in an extremely fast paced environment.
- Work with transportation companies and ship lines.
- Billing review and control.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two year college or technical school; or six month to one year related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interprets the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and article using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make persuasive speeches and presentation on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and / or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratio, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
