What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aide, Building Services position at One Brooklyn Health?
Overview
Under direct supervision, performs daily cleaning tasks for patient and resident rooms, nursing station, lounges, restrooms, offices, clinic areas, and any other areas assigned in accordance with standard procedures of the Environmental Services Department and in accordance with Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center standards and objectives.
Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of housekeeping duties. Uses a variety of cleaning devices and solutions.
- Removes garbage from all areas where and when assigned.
- Practices high effective dusting procedures in patient and non-patient areas.
- Replaces hand soaps, waterless hand wash, and hand towels where and when needed.
- Wipes walls, mirrors and surfaces where and when needed.
- Understands and practices proper terminal cleaning procedures where and when needed.
- Properly cleans the bed and room during patient discharges.
- Assists in lifting objects and moving furniture and equipment where and when required.
- Understands and practices proper handling of infectious waste.
- Vacuums rugs where and when required.
- Reports all unsafe work conditions to supervisor.
- Demonstrates the knowledge, skill, and ability to correctly dust mop and mop floors.
- Cleans and restocks bathrooms facilities where and when needed.
- Keeps porter closet locked at all times.
- Performs other related duties
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience:
- No minimum experience required, some preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Able to read and perform basic math and reading computations
Physical Requirements:
- Involves standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing and bending.
- May include some repetitive motions.
