Key Responsibilities
Strategic Grain Origination:
- Lead grain origination programs to minimize basis adjustments and engage farmers through innovative marketing
- Manage long/short commodity positions, corn basis adjustments, and deferred cash bids
- Identify and secure new corn purchasing opportunities
Market Expansion and Compliance:
- Develop additional ethanol market opportunities and manage wet cake marketing strategies
- Oversee carbon reduction initiatives and broader regulatory compliance, ensuring alignment with industry standards and company goals
Risk Management and Reporting:
- Adhere strictly to the company’s Risk Management Policy, using approved tools and strategies to safeguard margins and mitigate exposure to market volatility
- Prepare and present detailed monthly reports, including commodity positions, risks, and trends, for board meetings to support strategic decision-making
Operational Oversight:
- Optimize inventories for all commodities, including railcars, ensuring efficient operations and alignment with company objectives
- Manage and oversee the sales of ethanol, wet cake, and distillers grains to maximize returns
Industry Engagement and Innovation:
- Stay informed of market trends by attending relevant conferences, workshops, and industry events as needed
- Consult with participating brokers to analyze commodity trends and inform procurement strategies
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of grain marketing experience; bachelor’s degree in Ag Business or related field preferred
- Strong analytical, Excel, and PowerPoint skills; detail-oriented problem solver
- Effective communicator with the ability to perform under pressure
