What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Development Specialist position at One Heart Project?
Job Summary
The Youth Development specialist will lead and facilitate small group sessions with youth, typically 8-12 youth in each group, with no more than 2-3 groups at a time. They will provide supportive case management services and ensure all activities and data on youth are collected and maintained according to organizational standards. In addition, they will communicate effectively with customer agencies, referral agencies, One Heart staff, parents/guardians and all other involved parties.
Job Responsibilities
The Youth Development Specialist will:
· Facilitate cohorts/classes with assigned youth utilizing the One Heart Project curriculum, ensuring program fidelity.
· Ensure all referral, assessment, and survey documents are completed as required.
· Meet individually with each youth at least every two weeks, based on identified needs and risk.
· Refer, connect, coordinate, and follow up to ensure youth and/or the family obtain needed services from available community resources, appropriate job training, and job placement assistance
· Communicate with customer agencies to provide regular updates on youth participation and progress.
· Maintain files and records on youth as required.
· Enter required data into the case management system and collect other data as directed.
· Attend meetings and trainings as needed to effectively communicate with all involved parties. Example: Planning meetings with program director, All Staff monthly meeting, meetings with customer agencies, community partners, parents, other meetings with involved parties, etc.
· Assist youth with transportation needs and, in some circumstances, may transport youth in a personal vehicle.
· Provide pictures, videos, and documentation that displays the work, progress, and outcomes of youth. These will be used to tell the story and advocate support of the One Heart Project through social media, grants, and other events.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
The Youth Development Specialist should display:
· Ability to effectively teach youth.
· Strong interpersonal skills.
· Knowledge of case management principles, objectives, standards, and methods.
· Understanding of child development and adolescent needs.
· Ability to organize workload and set priorities to carry out assigned tasks in a timely manner.
· Knowledge of local community resources.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and computer data entry.
Education & Work Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in social work, criminal justice, education or related field preferred
· 2-5 years previous experience working with an adolescent population
· Experience working with at-risk and/or justice-involved youth preferred
Physical Requirements:
· Must be at least 21 years of age or older
· Ability to manage a classroom of youth, maintaining a safe and secure environment.
· Ability to type and write effectively, including data entry
· Ability to speak and communicate clearly, hear, and has visual acuity adequate to perform the responsibilities and duties of the job

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
