inequality that holds back working families. One Pennsylvania is seeking a Dauphin County Organizer to help lead and support a progressive, grassroots campaigns focused on local issues.

Summary:

The Dauphin County Organizer is a member of One Pennsylvania’s Political Department and will report to the Political Director. Primary duties are to help develop and implement campaigns and advocacy efforts by organizing a member base that will build political power in Dauphin County. The Dauphin County Organizer will have the opportunity to organize members, engage in a range of policy issues, work with a number of coalitions, elected officials and other allies.

Responsibilities:

• Build a geographic based chapter made up of dues-paying members, that will develop and implement campaigns focused on winning progressive legislation around housing, climate or economic justice and electing progressives at the local level
• Build one-on-one relationships with community members and make accurate leadership assessments, building out a precinct captain structure, with 1-2 natural leaders as captains per precinct inside the chapter turf
• Organize and run
• bi-weekly community meetings
• Monthly member-led actions including direct actions, lobby days, etc
• Supervise 2-3 core canvass team members who will be responsible for weekly civic engagement goals during election season and will help in the building of a neighborhood chapter in-between elections.
• Work with our Political Department to research, analyze and track political developments that will help move campaign forward
• Work with the Communications department to develop and articulate campaign messaging effectively.
• Use strategic judgment and problem solving skills to move committee and campaign work forward
• Help lead and facilitate political education trainings focused on leadership development and political analysis of relevant campaigns and issue areas.
• Work with our members to identify, interview and endorse candidates running for local office.

Minimum qualification:

• At least 2 years of experience in community or labor organizing and/or working in city-level government affairs.
• Commitment to and understanding of progressive organizing
• Experience that demonstrates the ability to empathize with and move people to take action
• Experience or willingness to work in a fast-paced campaign environment

Conditions: Owning and operating a car is required, willingness to travel and the ability to

competently navigate the city is required. Occasional opportunities to travel across the state or country for training or with members can be reasonably expected. One Pennsylvania provides mileage reimbursement at the Federal rate, per diem and lodging when working away from home. Ability to work hours exceeding stated office hours to get the job done; ability and

willingness to work evenings and weekends when necessary. The position will be based in Harrisburg and Steelton.
