SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
One to One Health is looking for a Medical Assistant whose primary responsibility is to monitor, respond to, direct, and coordinate care between clinicians and One to One’s TextCare services. This individual will also participate in all aspects of patient care and in Medical Assistant competencies. The ideal Medical Assistant is energetic, eager to learn, has a positive attitude, and above all else, has a passion for patient care.
Job Duties:
- Monitors Textcare messaging for incoming messages, and responds to those messages in an effort to meet the patients’ needs and/or facilitate coordination with clinicians to respond to patient messages
- Responsible for managing completed conversations in Textcare platform
- Verifies patient information by interviewing patients; recording medical history; confirming the purpose of the visit.
- Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary, and escorting a patient to the exam room.
- Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential.
- Deliver overall support for Providers and clinic operations.
- Instruct patients on the collection of any necessary samples and tests
- Give injections, administer prescribed medications as directed by the provider and in accordance with nursing standards
- Observe patients, chart and report changes in patients' conditions, such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment, and take any necessary action
- Ensure that patient chart entries are made accurately and in a timely matter and forward charts as appropriate.
- Assist with scheduling of tests and treatments.
- Arrange referrals to a specialist and obtain pre-authorizations when directed by the Provider.
- Prepare exam and treatment rooms for patient intake.
- Assist with lab testing and Phlebotomy.
- Assist providers in preparing for minor surgeries and physicals.
- Counsel’s patients by transmitting physician's orders and questions about treatment.
- Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipts.
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
- Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards, policies, and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficient in basic computer functioning
- Multi-line phone system operation preferred
- Associates Degree/Certification, or cumulative experience.
- Phlebotomy skills are required
- Professional appearance always
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs. and stand/sit for extended periods of time
- Excellent verbal and communication skills
- Experience with EMR systems
- Adaptable in differing situations.
- Able to multi-task and work independently.
- Must be able to work weekends and hours listed above.
- Professionalism, teamwork, and organizational skills
- BLS Certified
