Position Summary
The Fab Manager is responsible for directing and managing all personnel involved in the production process and assure adherence to all company and USDA requirements. Develop, maintain and supervise all aspects of OWB Packers grading and processing of carcasses. Implement corrective actions and special projects to achieve company objectives and strive for continuous improvement of all production and quality processes. Works closely with other departments in order to successfully fulfill all job requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Supervise all aspects of carcass grading, sortation and processing operations.
- Maintain acceptable productivity and quality levels ensuring products conform to customer and company expectations while meeting all Food Safety guidelines.
- Maintain yield standards and controls labor costs and quality standard.
- Monitor all Production operations to maximize value and increase productivity.
- Lead, mentor and evaluate plant operations personnel.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external customers to maintain and increase satisfaction and product knowledge. Liaison between Plant Management, Customers, and the facility's USDA personnel on Quality Assurance, Export and Labeling topics and meeting customer expectations.
- Direct supervisors with respect to production volume, quality, cost, and meeting production schedules and delivery dates.
- Hire, train, develop, reward, discipline and discharge employees to provide management depth and develop a consciousness of the need for team work to attain department objectives. Ensure adherence to procedures that promote the health and welfare of all employees in the departments.
- Direct and manage all personnel involved in the Grading and processing production process and must assure adherence to all company and USDA requirements. Review daily production schedule for the department to plan work and personnel assignments; coordinate extra work to be accomplished.
- Perform all aspects of the grading and processing operation utilizing a solid understanding of all USDA guidelines and develop a strong working relationship with all USDA personnel.
- Monitor and confirm that machinery, equipment, and facilities are properly maintained and sanitized for efficient production.
- Must be instrumental in managing the revenue stream by achieving optimum yields assuring profitability for the company and meet all budget requirements set forth by the company.
- Arrange to have appropriate production records prepared and maintained.
- Implement programs and procedures to effectively evaluate, monitor and trend product quality. Prepare and review daily and weekly plant Quality Assurance information including: product quality audits, tare efficiencies etc.
- Must understand all policies, procedures, instructions, rules and regulations (including all safety training and safety information) associated with this position.
- Assure employees are working in a safe environment through facility safety and using proper safety equipment. Consults with ESS Manager to ensure all safety guideline, procedures and training is received.
- Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices.
- Conduct and complete any other duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- 3 years beef fabrication experience
- 1 years Supervisor experience
- Expertise in product specifications, GMP, SSOP, Export procedures, product labeling and regulatory requirements that contribute to Quality Assurance.
