Summary :

Coordinate, manage and assist in the implementation of assigned environmental compliance programs related to the : Resource Conservation and Recovery Act; Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act; Toxic Substances Control Act, the National Environmental Policy Act and Tribal Law. Organize environmental compliance activities related to tribal activities and administer grants awarded under federal and state programs for implementation of these regulations.

Responsibilities :

  • Work with the Department of Transportation on invasive plant control activities within the right of way (ROW) on the Oneida Nation Reservation. This coordination involves mapping, planning activities, contacting landowners, and controlling invasive plants along county roads.
  • Assist the Interjurisdictional AIS Group with two funding proposals for invasive species research for controlling aquatic and wetland plants in the Great Lakes and native planting options for wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Complete recommendations for possible changes to Wisconsin's Invasive Species Rule NR-40.
  • Finalize the formation of a Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area for Northeast Wisconsin, participate on the board, and maintain momentum and information sharing.
  • Assist with the development of a Tribal Weed Cooperative. Develop culturally acceptable control techniques and response exercises.
  • Provide input into the LAMP Workgroup SharePoint site.
  • Participate in conference calls and join a subcommittee group.
  • Complete and submit semi-annual Environmental Accomplishments in the Great Lakes (EAGL) data and semi-annual narrative reports to BIA.
  • Utilize manual, mechanical, and chemical methods to control 100 acres of terrestrial and aquatic invasive plants.
  • Participate in the biannual Upper Midwest Invasive Species Conference.
  • Provide technical assistance to other environmental staff, other departments, committees, groups and community members on programs and projects.
  • Manage related project to include obtaining bids and proposals, negotiating contracts, and monitoring projects to ensure adherence to budget and time requirements and compliance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Secure additional funding and grant monies for continuation and expansion of program services.
  • Keep leadership and other departments informed of status of program activities by attending meetings and submitting reports.
  • Coordinate information and education programs regarding the program to include promotional materials, newsletters, and educational special events; stay abreast of new and emerging technologies.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by conducting research, attending seminars, educational workshops, classes and conferences, reviewing professional publications, establishing and participating in peer to peer and professional organizations and groups, confer with contracting agencies and related organizations.

  • Knowledge, experience, and skills operating a personal computer with word-processing, spreadsheet, and database software programs in a windows environment pertaining to leasing / various real estate information
  • Ability to exercise independent professional judgment
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of common invasive and noxious plants.
  • Ability to interpret applicable federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, requirements, ordinances and legislation.
  • Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds

    Must pass a background check to meet Employment Eligibility Requirements. If applicable, must pass a background check to meet Oneida Nation / State Compact and / or Oneida Nation Gaming Ordinance, and may be required to obtain a temporary license and / or Gaming license as a condition of employment.

    Must be willing and able to obtain additional related education and training.

    Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and adhere to the Nation Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy.

    A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and / or a 2 step TB Skin Test is required within thirty (30) days of employment.

    Must provide a copy of diploma / degree, license, or certification upon employment.
