Salary Range: $52,325-$56,875

• Starting salary with Bachelor’s degree: $53,462.50
• Starting salary with Bachelor’s degree(night-shift): $58,012.50
• Allied Health Care Experience CST, ER Tech, EMT, Paramedic, $0.25/yr. max 2yr ($0.50)

Job Type: Full-time

Hours: 12-hour shifts: 6PM-6AM; 7 days in a two week period, including alternating weekends. Training hours: 12PM-8PM(2 weeks)

Position Summary
The Surgical Recovery Technician (SRT) is responsible for the surgical recovery of donated human tissues used in transplantation.
A condition of employment requires that the incumbent learn and abide by the core values of OneLegacy.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Tissue Recovery
1. Performs the aseptic surgical recovery of tissues: Ocular, Musculoskeletal, Skin, Cardiac, Vascular, Bone Marrow, and ensures that the recovery follows all applicable OL P&P.
2. Performs the qualification of donor for recovery by reviewing all relevant source documents such as but not limited to authorization from, medical social history questionnaire, medical chart, coroner documentation, investigation report, tissue referral summary, case comments, and processor recovery criteria.
3. Preforms physical examination.
4. Performs donor blood drawing and plasma dilution assessment.
5. Performs facility site assessment and prepares the site for recovery.
6. Performs donor reconstruction.
7. Performs proper verification of all steps but not limited to recovery paperwork, packaging, labeling, and shipping.
8. Performs labeling and labeling verification.
9. Packages and ships tissue to processors.
10. Assembles and ensures all pertinent documents remain in the donor chart following completion of the recovery.
11. Communicates with the Family Care Center coordinator on shift and the Supervisor-on-Call (as appropriate) of any information that is discovered during medical chart review or physical examination that would alter the acceptance or rejection of the donor.

12. Responds timely to chart corrections.
13. Maintains donor information in a confidential manner by complying with HIPAA requirements and respects the donation process in a way that honors the gift of donation.
14. Performs all duties and responsibilities in compliance with OneLegacy policies and procedures, the standards and regulations as outlined by the FDA, AATB, EBAA, CMS, UNOS, and other applicable federal, state and local laws.
15. Documents the recovery process in digitalDonor (Electronic Medical Records) system.

Donor Receiving and Releasing
Assists with logistics and coordination of the transportation of donors to a OneLegacy facility for recovery.
Performs the receiving and releasing of donors in the OneLegacy Recover Facility from partners such as but not limited to transport companies, coroner offices, or funeral homes.

Surgical Technologist Support (OR Scrub)
1. Aseptically sets up the OR (surgical recovery room) for the Organ Recovery and breaks down the OR Post-Recovery.
2. Performs surgical prep and drape of the donor.
3. Hands off instruments and supplies to surgeons during the organ recovery.
4. Verifies the Authorization and organs to be recovered.
5. Assists the surgeons as needed or directed.
6. Assembles and ensures all pertinent documents remain in the donor chart following completion of the recovery.
7. Documents the recovery process in the Electronic Medical Records system.

Research Tissue/Organ or Specialty Graft Recovery
1. Recovers organs or tissue for research according to researcher protocol.
2. Assembles and ensures all pertinent documents remain in the donor chart following completion of the recovery.
3. Documents the recovery process in the Electronic Medical Records system.

Facility Maintenance and Cleaning and Materials Management
1. Performs facility cleaning and maintenance such as but not limited to cleaning, disinfecting, and mopping in the Supply Depot, Recovery OR, Morgue, Pre-Prep Staging room, tissue shipping/lab room, coroner office recovery suite, and other areas as needed.
2. Ensures inventory of clinical supplies are maintained appropriately to support day-to-day operations.
3. Ensures inventory of administrative supplies are maintained appropriately to support day-to-day operations.
4. Removes trash to exterior waste receptacles and maintain the cleanliness of the office space.
5. Assists Central Supply department with instrument cleaning, decontamination, sterilization and inventory management as needed.
Case Coordination/Logistics/Case Set-up
1. Activates recovery team for recovery.
2. Performs pre-recovery time out.
3. Sets up transportation of donor.
4. Obtains CME release for recovery.
5. Screens and offers tissue donor to processors.
6. Reviews post-tissue recovery documentation.
7. Performs packaging and shipping of recovered tissue.
8. Participates on tissue recovery will performing case coordination and logistics.
9. Performs other logistical task as instructed by management for the purposes of facilitating tissue donation.

Meetings, Trainings Session, P&P, and Competency Assessments
1. Attends all meetings as required as important updates are presented.
2. Completes requirements related to all assigned policy & procedures, in-services, online training, and stays current with all assigned training prior to participate in a tissue recovery.
3. Trains, learns, and is signed off on all competency assessments throughout the course of employment and on-going as job duties require.
4. Assists in the training of colleagues when signed-off to function as a trainer/preceptor.

Other Responsibilities:
1. Represents OneLegacy and provides customer service in a professional manner when working with funeral homes, ME/Coroner, processors, hospitals, patients, guests, physicians, staff, and other customers/vendors.
2. Performs all duties and responsibilities in compliance with safety guidelines, policies and procedures, regulations as outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations, and other applicable federal, state and local laws.
3. Performs quality control practices as defined by the policies and procedures.
4. Supports the organization’s Standards of Professional Conduct as outlined in the OneLegacy Policies and Procedures, and the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
5. Maintains a neat and organized workstation and environment.
6. Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Physical Environment/Working Conditions:
Location: Corporate Office or Redlands (as assigned), with work response throughout the Donor Service Area (DSA)
Travel: Required to travel by personal auto, company auto, or air to work locations, meeting sites, and other locations related to donor partners.
Work Hours:  Assigned days and/or shift can be changed according to staffing needs. Must be available evenings, holidays, and weekends as required.

Job Qualifications and Requirements:
Education: Required to have at least one of the following: completion of an EMT program, completion of a Surgical Technologist program, current or previous licensure as a paramedic, previous experience in tissue or organ recoveries, experience in an allied health field such as (embalming, physiology, anatomy, mortuary sciences, surgical, EMS, EMT, ER Technologist, paramedic, pathology, nursing), CEBT or CTBS Certifications, or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
Experience: Experience in an allied health field such as (physiology, anatomy, mortuary sciences, surgical, EMS, EMT, ER Technologist, paramedic, pathology, nursing)

Requirement: OneLegacy requires employees to maintain a current California driver’s license and current vehicle insurance. Please refer to OneLegacy’s policy HR 108 – Licensure and Certification for insurance coverage requirements. Employee must be able to pass a local government agency/coroner’s office background check.
Equipment: Reliable automotive transportation required.
