POSITION TITLE : Licensed Nurse Practitioner
PURPOSE OF POSITION : The Licensed Nurse Practitioner is responsible for day-to-day management of nurse staff in a substance abuse facility setting. The NP manages the health of patients by providing evaluation and management of non-acute illness / conditions and withdrawal symptoms. Assists development of and participation in health care services related to OneSource residential and outpatient drug treatment programs. NP will participate as collaborative team member for coordination of care with internal departments and external ancillary services. NP will assist with development and evaluation of standards of medical care throughout the organization, providing medical direction to other clinical staff, and advising the organization in matters of medical and health care policy. Meets regularly with the management and clinical teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Participates in admission decisions including screening and assessment of new patients, conducts physical exams upon admission and assists with overall mental and medical stability of patients with addictions.
- Interacts with the management team, direct care staff and others to assisting with development, approval, and evaluating medical, healthcare, and operational policies and procedures for the organization.
- Directs care and treatment as the primary medical service provider for non-emergent patient issues for organization.
- Writes medical orders (including Suboxone) and standards of practice for clinical activities. May supervise additional clinic staff as needed.
- Works closely with the Director of Services and Clinical Director to assure the efficient operation of medical and clinical activities.
- Assist organization staff in the investigation of communicable diseases in the facilities.
- Works closely with the resident community to advance the mission of the organization.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with representatives of professional societies and health agencies at the local, state, and federal level to ensure the compliance of the organization’s various health programs with national and statewide medical guidelines.
- Develop relationships with hospitals and clinics within and outside the organization that provide healthcare to patients, MAT, urgent care, and triage.
- Acts as a member of leadership team in representing the organization in the community, participating in the development of medical and healthcare policies and procedures, and making recommendations regarding the future of the organization.
- Acts as the medical liaison with state and federal health and medical authorities.
- Acts as consulting team member for the receipt and distribution of licensed pharmaceuticals for the organization.
- Serves as medical spokesperson for the organization as needed.
- Provides periodic in-service training for clinical and other health organization staff.
- Will be expected to respond to health emergencies.
- May require nontraditional working hours on occasion.
- Maintains appropriate licenses and / or certifications.
- Should already have a NPI number. Credentialing with various insurance providers is preferred.
