Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled AV Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of audio-visual equipment, ensuring seamless operations for our clients. Working under the guidance of the AV Manager, you will apply your expertise in cabling, computer hardware, and software troubleshooting. Your experience with low-voltage systems and telecommunications, as well as your mechanical knowledge, will be vital to your success in this role. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications will also be essential for completing your daily tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot AV equipment, including patch panels, network switches, security cameras, amplifiers, receivers, firewalls, and Wi-Fi devices.
- Perform cable terminations (CAT5e, CAT6, COAX), including punching down 66 blocks.
- Route and connect cables to equipment such as switches, server racks, and switchboards, ensuring all cables are neatly organized and professionally managed.
- Maintain and clean tools, equipment, and vehicles as required.
- Pre-installation testing of new equipment to ensure compatibility with existing systems (e.g., power supplies, codecs, speakers, microphones).
- Install and configure new AV equipment in customer environments.
- Repair and replace faulty equipment, such as damaged wires, phones, and network components.
- Support AV integration and automation, working with audio-visual, voice/data, security, and network equipment.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional after-hours and weekend shifts.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in commercial low-voltage work.
- Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen.
- Strong communication skills: read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Experience working on construction sites and adhering to safety protocols.
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds at once and 30 pounds for extended periods.
- Capability to climb, squat, kneel, push, pull, and reach overhead routinely.
Preferred Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of integration and automation hardware for audio/visual, voice/data, and network systems.
- Previous experience with pre-installation testing of AV equipment.
- Familiarity with network setup and security devices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating effectively with peers and managers.
