Position Title: Information Systems Security Specialist - Maritime Commercial Industry OT Cybersecurity
Location: Remote (Minimal Travel Required)
Position Type: 1099 Contract
Experience: 8 years
Certifications Required: CISSP, CISM, GSLC (or equivalent)
Overview:
We are a leading cybersecurity company looking for an experienced Information Systems Security Specialist with a strong background in Maritime Commercial Industry OT Cybersecurity compliance and governance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in securing shipboard Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) systems, with a focus on ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards, regulations, and best practices. You will be responsible for assessing shipboard OT and IT security requirements and leading remediation efforts to address any compliance gaps. This remote 1099 position requires minimal travel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Security Assessment & Compliance: Conduct thorough assessments of shipboard OT and IT security requirements to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and organizational policies. Identify and remediate security gaps and vulnerabilities.
- Policy & Process Development: Create and update existing organizational policies, plans, and processes related to key security areas including change management, incident response, auditing and logging, access control, and vulnerability management.
- Training & Documentation: Develop and update training programs for alignment with cybersecurity best practices and regulatory compliance. Create and update training documentation for staff related to security processes, procedures, and response protocols.
- Governance & Oversight: Ensure continuous alignment with security frameworks, maritime industry regulations, and organizational governance. Provide oversight and expertise in auditing and compliance processes.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders across the organization, including shipboard personnel, IT, and OT teams, to ensure cybersecurity requirements are met and maintained.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in cybersecurity, specifically within the maritime commercial industry, with a strong understanding of OT cybersecurity compliance and governance.
- Certifications: One or more of the following certifications are required:
- CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
- CISM (Certified Information Security Manager)
- GSLC (GIAC Security Leadership Certification)
- Knowledge & Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of OT and IT cybersecurity, with a focus on commercial maritime systems.
- Experience with cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, and other relevant standards for maritime and industrial environments).
- Familiarity with compliance and regulatory standards (e.g., IMO, IEC 62443, NIST 800-82, etc.).
- Strong understanding of incident response, access control, vulnerability management, and auditing and logging plans and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams and executive staff to provide guidance on best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Other:
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically while handling detailed technical tasks.
