Job Description :

We are seeking an experienced Drywall Estimator with specialized expertise in construction projects to join our team in Los Angeles. The Drywall Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for drywall projects, including materials, labor, and equipment. This role requires detailed analysis of project plans, specifications, and requirements to ensure cost-effective and timely completion of projects. The estimator collaborates closely with the contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure alignment with client goals.

What You Will Do : Estimate Preparation

Review project documentation, including architectural plans, specifications, and any additional information.

Conduct site visits and evaluations to assess project conditions and requirements.

Calculate the quantity and type of materials needed, such as drywall sheets, joint compounds and accessories.

Accurately determine labor costs, including skilled labor, equipment and any subcontractor needs.

Account for potential risks and contingencies in the estimate.

Cost Analysis

Develop a comprehensive cost breakdown for each project, detailing materials, labor equipment and subcontractor costs.

Evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitiveness.

Stay current with market rates for materials and labor in Los Angeles area.

Cost Estimation Software

Must be proficient with On-Screen Takeoff / Quickbid

Maintain proficiency in these tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy in estimation process.

Value Engineering

Identify opportunities to optimize costs without compromising quality.

Recommend alternative materials or construction methods that may reduce expenses while meeting project specifications.

Proposal Preparation

Develop detailed proposals and bid packages for clients, including a breakdown of costs, project timelines, and project approach.

Collaborate with the Operations Manager to ensure the proposals align strategic goals and profitability targets.

Cost Tracking

Collaborate with the Project Management team to track actual costs against estimated costs during project execution.

Analyze any variances and adjust future estimates accordingly.

Client Communication

Maintain clear and professional communication with clients during the estimation process.

Address client inquiries and provide clarification to support project awards.

Competitive Analysis

Monitor industry trends, competitor pricing, and market dynamics to ensure estimates are competitive and aligned with industry standards.

Continuous Improvement

Participate in training and professional development to stay updated on best practices and innovations.

Apply lesson learned from past projects to improve future estimate accuracy and efficiency.

Documentation

Maintain organized records of all estimating activities, including project documents, correspondence, and historical data for reference in future estimates.

Business Development

Leverage existing industry contacts and relationships to identify new drywall project opportunities.

Cultivate and expand the client bast by identifying opportunities for additional work and repeat business.

Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to establish new connections and partnerships.

What You Will Bring :

A minimum of 5-10 years in Estimating.

Ability to perform physical labor

Possess basic knowledge of workplace safety procedures

Must be highly motivated and able to work independently

Ability to follow directions

Must be organized and able to prioritize and multi-task

Possess effective verbal and written communication skills

Good reading skills, preferred.
