The Director of the Office of Accessibility Resources (OAR) oversees all services provided by the Office of Accessibility Services and Testing Services. They actively collaborate with students, faculty, staff, and community agencies to provide all students access to the educational experience at Onondaga Community College. They also ensure compliance with related federal and state regulations through active leadership of the Office of Accessibility Resources and its staff. The director also manages department and grant budgets. They demonstrate a commitment to excellence, assuring that students with documented disabilities receive accommodative services needed to accomplish their academic and career goals.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Utilizing institutional guiding documents, such as the College's Strategic Plan and Statement on Equity, provide vision and leadership for the Office of Accessibility Resources and the Testing Center.
Train, supervise, and provide ongoing professional development for the Office of Accessibility Resources and Testing services staff that fosters cross-training and a supportive, collaborative team environment.
Perform administrative responsibilities associated with departmental management, including budget development and expenditure planning.
Stay abreast of federal and state regulations related to disability services, accommodations, and qualifying identities and/or characteristics as well as the Office of Civil Rights rulings and recommendations and best practices in accessibility resources. Provide ongoing training of such to staff.
Ensure infusion of technology into internal office procedures and direct service to students, to increase effectiveness and efficiency of the systems and services.
Build relationships with the faculty and staff associated with each academic school, tailoring service strategies to the unique needs of each.
Develop and provide training opportunities for faculty and staff, including materials to aid in the successful provision of academic accommodations and educational experience for students with disabilities.
Support and facilitate the regular assessment of the Office of Accessibility Resources, including data collection, analysis, and reporting that measure the offices efficacy and utilize those results to ensure continual innovation and improvement.
Collaborate with ITS to develop regular reports that will inform student affairs of critical data needed to analyze specific metrics.
Serve as Project Investigator or Project Lead on current and future grants related to areas of responsibility.
Ensure departmental support and collaboration of major College events, including but not limited to Open House, Orientation, Residence Life move-in, and Commencement.
Serve as Student Affairs divisional representative to various committees.
Represent the Dean of Students in her/his absence and/or when designated by the Dean.
Perform other duties as assigned within scope of responsibilities.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, or foreign equivalency.
Two years of experience providing direct service to individuals with disabilities.
Two years of supervision experience in an educational setting which may be part of the two years of direct service to individuals with disabilities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university or foreign equivalency.
Familiarity with needs, trends, and best practices in accessibility services and supports.
Five years of supervisory (full-time, postgraduate) experience in higher education.
Bilingual. English and Spanish preferred, but all languages welcomed.
