We are seeking a Systems Administrator to play a pivotal role in maintaining, optimizing, and securing our IT infrastructure. This individual will be responsible for a mix of desktop, network, and server administration tasks, with a focus on improving security posture by identifying and addressing gaps in policies and systems.
The ideal candidate will have 5 to 10 years of experience, with a passion for learning and applying innovative solutions in a compliance-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
Desktop/Server Support
- Perform patch management for all desktops, laptops, and server infrastructure, ensuring compliance with security policies.
- Oversee operating system upgrades, including planning and execution for Windows 11 migrations as well as Windows Server EOL planning.
- Enforce desktop/server security policies, including BitLocker encryption, EDR, LAPS, access management, etc.
- Manage and deploy enterprise software updates using patch management tools.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of IT assets and software licenses using asset management tools.
- Troubleshoot and resolve user issues related to hardware, software, and connectivity.
Network Support
- Administer and troubleshoot VPN configurations for remote connectivity.
- Configure and maintain Access Control Lists (ACLs) for network security.
- Perform upgrades, monitoring, and maintenance for FortiGate firewalls.
- Assist in managing IPSec tunnels and ensuring redundancy and reliability.
Active Directory Management
- Manage Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to enforce security and configuration settings.
- Build and maintain Windows Servers, ensuring optimization and compliance with internal standards.
- Administer user accounts, permissions, and directory structures within Active Directory.
- Optimize server deployments and streamline configuration processes.
Infrastructure Optimization
- Identify and implement solutions to recurring system issues and inefficiencies.
- Develop automated workflows to reduce manual tasks and improve efficiency.
- Participate in long-term IT projects, including migrations to cloud services and automation initiatives.
- Collaborate with Cloud Engineers to align hybrid-cloud strategies and disaster recovery plans.
- Regularly assess system vulnerabilities and orchestrate deployments to implement mitigation measures.
- Ensure all systems adhere to compliance frameworks like HIPAA and maintain a proactive stance on audits.
Scripting and Automation
- Develop and maintain scripts (PowerShell, Python) to automate system tasks and improve efficiency.
- Use scripting to streamline patching, reporting, and account management processes.
- Collaborate with the Cloud Engineering team to integrate automation into hybrid environments.
- Leverage monitoring tools like PRTG or AWS CloudWatch to maintain visibility into system health.
Compliance and Documentation
- Maintain accurate documentation of all system configurations, changes, and processes.
- Participate in periodic audits and ensure evidence is provided for compliance.
Qualifications:
- Senior-Level: 5-10 years in system administration with demonstrated expertise in infrastructure management.
- Proficiency in Windows desktop environments (Windows 10, 11) and patch management.
- Strong understanding of Active Directory, GPO management, and server builds.
- Familiarity with network administration, including VPNs, ACLs, and firewalls (FortiGate preferred).
- Experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, Python) for automation.
- Experience working in healthcare IT environments.
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance requirements and workflows for managing PHI.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator or equivalent.
- CompTIA Network , Security , or equivalent.
- Fortinet NSE certifications or similar.
