What are the responsibilities and job description for the Training Specialist position at Onslow County?
Onslow County is seeking a Training Specialist to join our team and enhance employees' professional development opportunities! This position performs intermediate professional work planning and directing employee training and development programs. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Organizational Development Manager.
- Create and facilitate employee training and development programs across various topics. Examples may include but are not limited to annual compliance training topics, communication skills, conflict resolution, policy training, leadership skills, safety awareness, and department requested topics.
- Researches and secures trainers and training materials from outside sources as needed; designs and conducts training sessions.
- Develop and utilize various media and training platforms to provide engaging curriculum.
- Collaborate with County departments long-range planning for training and development needs.
- Help negotiate and prepare contracts with service providers related to the training field, as appropriate.
- Maintains training records, participation rosters, and related documentation.
- Engage in training evaluation and implement feedback and recommendations.
- Consult with and advise Chief Human Resources Officer relative to training and development programs.
- Perform assigned functions as a Disaster Ready Team (DRT) member.
- Perform related tasks as required.
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of public personnel training and administration; thorough knowledge of research, data analysis and report presentation techniques; ability to assess training needs and develop necessary training programs; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees; ability to analyze and present recommendations effectively in oral and written form. Ability to utilize present information in an engaging manner and mastery of training presentation software and platforms.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in human resources, training and development, adult education, public or business administration or related field and considerable experience in planning, delivery, and evaluation of employee training and development programs.
Salary : $49,754 - $64,688
