Ontic’s Creedmoor, NC, site is home to a number of specialist companies within the Ontic Group, including Firstmark, Twin Commander, and Metro Merlin. With over 1,300 employees across four time zones and seven sites, we have more than doubled in size since 2019 and are continuing to grow at pace.
Our team is looking for a Configuration Engineering Manager to join them. You will report to the Director of Engineering and will have an onsite work structure in Creedmoor, NC.
To be considered for the Configuration Engineering Manager opening, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, IT, or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
- 5 years’ experience in a configuration management driven organization
- 2 years’ experience in a management or leadership capacity
- Ability to occasionally travel to client sites or project locations
As a Configuration Engineering Manager, you will:
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust configuration management processes, policies, and procedures that align with industry best practices
- Lead a team of configuration management specialists and working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure product configuration integrity and required configuration management actions are performed
- Establish and enforce CM policies, facilitate continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure traceability throughout the product lifecycle
- Support the implementation of a PLM system to support robust configuration management, track and control product configurations
- Update configuration management procedures to reflect the use and implementation of the PLM system
- Oversee change control processes, ensuring that all changes to product line configurations are documented, evaluated, and approved before implementation
- Ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation of configuration items (CIs) and their relationships, including version control, release notes, and compliance reports
- Conduct regular audits of configuration management processes and practices to ensure compliance with internal and external standards (AS9100)
- Prepare for and support external audits and assessments of configuration management practices
- Identify potential risks associated with configuration changes and develop mitigation strategies
- Conduct workshops and training sessions for engineering and project teams on CM tools and processes
- Lead initiatives to improve configuration management processes through innovation, technology upgrades, and automation

Salary Range:
- $120,000 - $150,000/year, based on experience
