What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Onyx Studio?
Onyx Studio is looking for an onsite Controller to assist in the day-to-day operations of our business as well as higher level financial analysis. The ideal candidate will help contribute to our company's success through excellent problem-solving skills and will become a valuable member of our team.
Primary duties include financial transactions & month-end reconciling for multiple entities, overseeing employee benefits, coordination of miscellaneous audits (as needed), multi-state sales tax filings, cash management, A/P, A/R and assisting with all aspects of loan servicing. Additionally, this role will communicate various needs with our legal support. You will also assist the CEO with sales goals, budgets, marketing needs and HR responsibilities.
Further Duties:
- Oversee all aspects of financial management, including financial analysis, account analysis, account reconciliation and day to day .
- A/P - process vendor payments
- A/R - process client payments
- Update inventory as needed
- Process client and vendor refunds
- Calculate monthly and quarterly commission
- New Hire/HR paperwork
- Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to increase efficiency.
- Prepare and present financial reports to senior management (Owner and CEO), including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Conduct financial forecasting and budgeting to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Manage the company's financial systems and software.
- Collaborate with others to provide insights for business planning.
- Monitor cash flow, manage banking relationships, and optimize working capital.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of all tax filings and compliance requirements.
- Implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Controller or similar role in a corporate setting.
- Strong knowledge of financial principles and practices.
- Proficiency in using financial software systems. We currently use QuickBooks Online.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
