What are the responsibilities and job description for the OR Assistant position at Opelousas General Health System?
Under the supervision of the OR Clinical Coordinator, the OR Aide is responsible for performing assigned duties entailing the decontamination, preparation and distribution of surgical equipment, room turnover and other tasks as assigned as they relate to room turnovers between cases.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
- Will clean floors and equipment according to regulatory standards after cases in preparation for next case in each room.
- Accurately handles and cares for equipment appropriately, including appropriate selection of cleaning agents.
- Dispenses supplies, equipment, and instruments in the OR, Endoscopy
- Performs related work as required.
- Documents and maintains relevant data and communicates data to appropriate parties.
- Maintains a safe and clean environment.
- Transport Patients and assists with positioning patients in the operating room.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and acts as a patient advocate.
- Participates in performance improvement.
- Approaches situations with distressed patients, families and visitors in a calm, professional manner.
- Performs various requested tasks as directed to maintain the department.
Education : High School Diploma / GED required.
Certification : CPR required.
