We are looking for an instructor to teach and lead activities for our Life Skills class. This is a temporary Summer Camp Instructor position scheduled Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm.
General Duties & Details
- Create and facilitate engaging discussions and activities that teach children skills for living productive lives like: Tying your shoes, manners and etiquette, conflict resolution, hygiene, etc.
- Be an example to and guide children in Christ-like behavior, character, respect for and treatment of others and of property, and following program policies and procedures.
- Respond to the needs of the children in a firm, but loving and nurturing way.
- Know and follow program policies and procedures to ensure a safe and fun environment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Some involvement in a Christian church or ministry preferred
- Ability to model Christ-like behavior with children and team members
- Experience in teaching in a school, church or college setting
- Experience working with children preferred
- Familiarity with behavior management strategies and classroom management techniques
- Ability to report to work on time and maintain consistent attendance
- Ability to work in a cooperative, team-oriented atmosphere
- Ability to communicate and work with a variety of ages and skill levels
- Ability to work under pressure in a sometimes loud and disruptive environment
Reporting and Collaboration
- Reports directly to the Program Director
- Works as a team with all OACC employees
- Collaborates with the Open Arms Pastor, Administrator, other departments, boards, and congregation as needed
- All employees of Bethany Lutheran Church dba Open Arms work within the guidelines of the Church By-laws. The Governing Board, as representatives of the congregation, ensures that the organization as a whole operates in compliance with the by-laws.
