What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Service Supervisor position at Open Door Mission?
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Assist the Food Services Manager with the preparation and provision of meals. Provide oversight and kitchen supervision. Ensure a hospitable service environment for ODM, its programs, students and guests. Take a lead role to offer teaching and instructing, utilizing a "hands on training" approach with students, volunteers and staff.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Open kitchen and begin operations as assigned; responsible for meal prep, service and clean-up.
Operate kitchen in compliance with established the health and safety standards of local, state and federal agencies.
Work alongside staff, volunteers, students and guests assigned to kitchen:
Teach basic food service and kitchen operations: basic food prep, line cooking, clean up, sanitation, and hospitality service techniques.
Minister and encourage; facilitate teamwork, time management, and problem resolution.
Insure proper use, cleaning and storage of equipment.
Ensure food safety guidelines as it relates to the intake, processing and storage of donated food items.
Insure all donated food is properly receipted.
Assist with menu planning as needed.
Ensure accuracy of reports and data schedules.
Prepare and submit both formal and informal reports and/or presentations to Food Services Manager, Executive Management Team, selected external audiences, or other groups as requested.
Attend internal and external meetings and trainings as requested or expected.
Additional duties as requested.

Strong kitchen management skills
Able and willing to model and teach food preparation skills and Christian character development
Knowledge of critical food safety and handling practices
Able to cook tasteful meals with attractive presentations
Able and willing to both follow recipes as well as create recipes
Good eye-hand motor skills: precise, careful, and safety conscious
Able to effectively communicate verbally, promote teamwork and apply problem solving skills
Able to work with diverse groups of people, treating all with dignity and respect
Computer literate, knowledgeable in Word, Excel, and Email
Reliable, trustworthy and open to learning new ways of doing things and enhancing existing skill set
Valid New York state driver's license, driving record acceptable to insurance carrier
