Role Overview:
The Value Creation Director at Open Opportunity Fund will lead strategic efforts to accelerate growth, operational excellence, and long-term value creation across our portfolio. As a senior leader, you will work closely with founders, executive teams, and co-investors to shape and execute on growth initiatives, while leveraging our ecosystem of advisors, industry partners, and resources. This role is pivotal in ensuring that Open Opportunity Fund drives transformative outcomes for its companies and delivers on our mission to add value beyond capital.
Key Responsibilities:
Portfolio Leadership & Strategic Advisory
- Serve as a trusted advisor to founders and executive teams, helping to define and execute strategic priorities across product, go-to-market, operations, and fundraising.
- Lead strategic planning sessions and performance reviews with portfolio companies to drive accountability and results.
- Build and oversee systems for tracking performance, key metrics, and progress toward business milestones.
Business Development & Ecosystem Leverage
- Proactively identify and structure strategic partnerships, enterprise customer introductions, and revenue-generating opportunities across the portfolio.
- Cultivate relationships with C-level executives, industry leaders, and co-investors to unlock commercial value.
- Partner with portfolio companies on capital strategy, investor positioning, and access to downstream capital.
Operational Excellence & Talent Strategy
- Guide companies on building scalable systems across finance, sales, and operations.
- Provide hands-on support with hiring strategy, org design, and executive recruiting through our network and talent partners.
- Introduce benchmarking tools, KPIs, and operational dashboards to inform decision-making.
Community Building & Thought Leadership
- Curate and lead forums, roundtables, and workshops to foster knowledge sharing and cross-portfolio collaboration.
- Build and maintain a toolkit of resources, vendor relationships, and best practices to support portfolio scale.
- Represent Open Opportunity Fund externally as a thought leader on value creation and founder support.

Requirements:
Qualifications & Experience
- 6–10 years of experience in venture capital, private equity operating teams, growth strategy, or founder/operator roles in high-growth startups.
- Proven track record of driving impact at the board or executive level, with experience across company-building functions (growth, operations, product, finance).
- Experience working with early-stage startups (Seed to Series C) and directly supporting founders in navigating growth, fundraising, and scale.
- Deep understanding of venture capital dynamics, investor relations, and fundraising processes.
- Strong network of industry experts, executive talent, and commercial partners relevant to early-stage ventures.
Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional strategic thinking and execution orientation, with a bias for action and results.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen to assess opportunities and inform decision-making.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Experience managing multiple stakeholders and priorities across a dynamic portfolio.
- Familiarity with portfolio management tools (e.g., Allvue, iLEVEL) and performance tracking platforms is a plus.
