Position Summary
Open Door Fellowship Ministries, Inc. is looking for a talented, motivated individual to join our team as a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant will be part of a financial team for all day-to-day finance operations for several non-profit organizations, including functional responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, budget creation, audit leadership, and presenting financial statements to Department Directors. The Senior Accountant will ensure that the organization has the systems and procedures to support practical accounting and conduct flawless audits and timely IRS 990 filings. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the financial team and the Department Directors to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures and to provide timely financial reporting of results against the budget.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring the accuracy of month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and adjustments.
- Oversee all accounts, ledgers, fixed assets, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintains internal controls and safeguards accurate receipt and recording of revenue, costs, and program budgets (journal entries) in QuickBooks Desktop.
- Timely reconciliation and submission of Sales Tax
- Annual preparation of Payroll tax returns, monthly 941 reports and annual preparation of W-2s.
- Annual preparation of 1099s
- Manage organizational cash flows and banking approvals of cash wires and ACHs.
- Effective forecasting by working in partnership with Department Directors to anticipate changes in revenue and expense against budget.
- Leads all audit activity with auditors.
- Consistently analyzes financial data and presents financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicates monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitors progress and changes keeping senior leadership aware of the organizations financial status.
- Assists CFO with annual budgeting and planning process.
- Supports the CFO in preparation for internal senior leadership meetings, including flagging issues and trends in financial operating and delivery, as well as client cash flow issues.
- Oversee all required grants and restricted fund accounting; ensures that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant, restricted fund, and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period; collates necessary financial reports for all government, corporate, and foundation grants.
- Work in partnership with the Business Office Manager on all aspects of the organization's CRM donation system.
- Leverages strengths of the current finance team members to help clarify accounting GAAP standards and regulatory requirements. Develop and implement training programs to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals.
- Provides leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; creates and promotes a positive and supportive work environment.
- Involved in strategic planning, designing financial policies and procedures, and providing guidance within GAAP.
- Performs all other duties assigned by direct supervisor or members of the leadership team.

Requirements:
Qualifications
- Experienced leader with at least five years of accounting and finance experience, ideally in a complex nonprofit that has multiple programs.
- Minimum of a BA in accounting or finance with expert understanding of GAAP standards and tax regulations
- Expert knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop, advanced Excel skills
- Strong organizational skills and multitasking abilities
- High attention to detail and problem-solving aptitude
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
The following abilities are required for the position:
- Work at a desk in an office for extended periods.
- Work for extended periods at a computer, requiring the ability to send and receive information with necessary optical, auditory, and manual dexterity.
- Use a keyboard and mouse to enter, retrieve or transfer words or data information and/or move from screen to screen on the computer to view information.
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; comprehend and speak English.
- Display the reading skills necessary to proofread written material.
- Perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Understand the organization is mission-based and there is a need to address priority issues as they occur.
Salary : $85,000 - $95,000
