Job Overview

Openlight Media is a digital and print production company located in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  Openlight Media is dedicated to supporting and advancing the mission of the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist and the faith-filled lay men and women who embrace the Dominican charism of Veritas (truth), by developing educational and inspirational content. Our professionally produced videos, music, and content extend into classrooms and living rooms worldwide.   While we do not require employees to adhere to a specific religious faith, applicants should understand they will be working in, and should be comfortable working in, an environment where faith-based principles may be openly discussed, and will be promoting messaging aligned with our religious values and mission.


The Director of Marketing and Communications will develop and execute a comprehensive and engaging strategy (print and digital) to increase awareness and advance the footprint of Openlight Media.  The Director will also collaborate with design, production, and sales teams to develop and promote our products and services.  The Director will report to the Executive Director.


This position requires creativity, honesty, docility, prudence, competence, professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality, all in support of our mission as a Catholic organization


Key Role Functions and Responsibilities

Includes but is not limited to:


·      Strategic Planning: Develop, assist with implementation, and track marketing programs such as email, social media, or digital campaigns, and events.

·      Team Leadership:

o  Collaborate with other internal teams (e.g. product development and sales) to develop and monitor strategic marketing initiatives.

o  Collaborate with and implement special marketing projects from the Executive Director.

o  Update senior leadership on the progress of marketing activities and report on the results of campaigns.

·      Market Research:

o  Conduct market research and analyze trends to identify new marketing opportunities.

o  Analyze and report on the performance and efficiency of campaigns, providing recommendations for improvement when necessary.

·      

·      Brand Management:

o  Help ensure brand guidelines are met. 

o  Ensure consistency and qualify across all communications and mediums, through writing, proofreading, and editing creative and technical content.

·      External Relations: Work with external agencies and vendors to execute marketing programs.

·      Content Creation & Management: Ensure the company is communicating the right message to attract prospective customers and retain existing ones.

Qualifications for this role

·      Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in marketing and communications, content development, and leadership

·      Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field

·      Proficiency in various marketing tools, analytics platforms, and design software, such as Google Analytics, CRM systems, and content management systems

·      Excellent analytical skills and a knack for data analysis

·      Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·      Skilled in writing and editing content with an attention to detail

·      Strong prioritization, organization, and project management skills

·      Experience with Microsoft products (e.g. Outlook, Teams, and Sharepoint)

·      Ability to collaborate with other team members

·      A humble and docile  “can do” attitude

·      Discretion and professionalism in working collaboratively with religious Sisters

·      Strong understanding of brand consistency

·      Self-starter, can work with minimal direction if needed

·      Solution oriented

·      Ability to take critique and feedback gracefully

·      Aware of current marketing and social media strategies and trends

·      Comfortable offering honest opinions

·      Preferred but not required: experience with Asana and Hubspot
