The Director of Communications and Marketing advances the Stamps School's goals through a marketing and communications strategy that increases the impact of the school and further establishes the Stamps as a leadership institution shaping the future of art and design education through dynamic integrated marketing campaigns across all media channels.
A collaborative, creative, and strategic expert, the Director understands the interplay between brand, strategy, and operations, organizing marketing and communications tactics into a cohesive brand experience that strengthens the school's impact and identity. You will report to the Assistant Dean of Advancement. You will lead a team of creative professionals and serve as part of the Advancement team.

Responsibilities*
Strategy & Brand Management
- Lead marketing and communications to enhance the school's brand.
- Collaborate with partners to set and evaluate goals.
- Promote data-driven decisions for content and user experience.
- Implement multi-channel strategies with measurable goals.
- Highlight faculty and student achievements in art and design.
Team Leadership
- Guide the team in creating content across all platforms.
- Improve workflows and manage budgets.
- Set goals, train, and evaluate team performance.
Operations & Project Management
- Ensure marketing materials align with U-M branding.
- Oversee website and social media content for accuracy.
- Use analytics to enhance marketing efforts.
- Manage digital and print publications.
University & External Relations
- Coordinate public relations and media efforts.
- Build relationships with university and external partners.
- Represent the school in meetings and collaborations.
Other Projects
- Report to leadership on team activities.
- Support school events and programs.
- Stay informed on industry trends.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, business, or related field.
- 5 years in marketing/communications or journalism/public relations.
- 3 years managing multiple marketing and communications channels.
- Experience developing marketing/communications plans, including branding, PR, website, and social media.
- Supervisory and leadership experience.
- Demonstrated public speaking and writing/copy editing skills with published work samples.
- Experience in market research and data analysis.
- Familiarity with macOS/OS and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Knowledge of CraftCMS.
Work Schedule
This position is hybrid, with details to be determined by the supervisor.
