Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and licensed commissioned (armed) Lv 3 School Resource Officer (Security) to join our team in Texas. Our client is a private school in Bee Cave, TX.
- Candidate must be available to fulfill a 9.5 hour work day every Thursday and Friday. The post is scheduled to start January 23, 2025.
- This is a 2-man post at all times. The officers will rotate between patrolling the campus and manning the command/CCTV center and access control.
- Services will pause during school breaks (Spring, Summer, Thanksgiving, Winter). While we will do our best to provide additional hours to officers assigned to this post during breaks, we cannot guarantee it. Therefore this job is ideal for officers whose schedules align well with school breaks.
- There is potential for after-school hours, events and weekends, but accepting these additional hours is not required.
- Officers with prior law enforcement or military background are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Officers with 7 years experience in private security are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Candidates will be required to get ALICE certified. We can assist with this if the chosen applicant does not hold a current ALICE certification.
As an armed School Resource Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining a strong visible presence, deterring criminal and dangerous activity, and responding to security incidents when they arise. Your primary duty is to ensure the safety and security of our client, the faculty, their property, students, visitors.
Responsibilities:
- Patrol and Surveillance: Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas to identify and prevent security threats, suspicious activity, or safety hazards. Must be comfortable operating a golf cart to patrol the campus, provided by us. Must be able to thoroughly watch cameras when not on patrol and must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations and handle conflicts professionally and discreetly.
- Access Control: Monitor entry and exit points, verifying the identity of individuals and ensuring only authorized personnel are allowed access.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to security incidents, alarms, or disturbances, and take appropriate action in accordance with company protocols and state laws.
- Weapon Handling: Safely carry and utilize firearms in accordance with state regulations and company policies, especially around minors
- Report Writing: Maintain detailed and accurate logs of daily activities, incidents, and security-related information.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to staff, vendors, parents, and visitors, offering assistance and information as needed.
- Safety Procedures: Enforce safety regulations and protocols, such as fire prevention, evacuation plans, and emergency response procedures.
- Training: Participate in ongoing training and development programs to stay up-to-date with the latest security practices and laws.\
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure the proper maintenance and functionality of security equipment and firearms. Uniforms should be neatly pressed and washed on a regular basis.
You have:
- At least 7 years of security-related experience\
- Texas Level III Commissioned Officers: Must possess a valid and current Texas Level III Commissioned Security Officer license
- Your own firearm that you certified with on your Level III license
- High School Diploma or GED: A minimum educational requirement.
- Previous Experience: Prior experience in law enforcement, military, or private security is preferred but not mandatory.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical Fitness: Must be physically fit and capable of standing, walking, and patrolling for extended periods.
- Reliability: Must have a strong work ethic and be punctual.
- Legal Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in the United States and have a clean criminal record.
- A Set or Predictable Schedule: The nature of the part-time/on call role will have rotating demands. While FT opportunities are possible, the part-time/on call officer should be able to give availability at least 2 weeks prior to schedule postings.
The ideal candidates also:
- Have ALICE certification, or is able to complete ALICE training before the start date (OTS can assist with this)
- Have a reliable vehicle and can commute to the job site every day
- Can work well in both a team and on solo environments
- Has experience working with children ages 6-16 and/or in a school environment
